Under new national League rules the pitch use per week is capped at 50 hours. Once you take first team matches, first team training (now three nights a week) and academy use into account, the number of hours available for public hire will be restricted somewhat. you need to bear that in mind when working out your figures. On a general note ref. replacing the pitch now, I strongly suspect Oliver and Terry are worried that, if they don't do it and we play a season in the national league on a worn pitch, it will fuel the fire of the surface's opponents at a very criticial stage of the acceptance process. With a stipulation in the national League rules stating that we would have to rip the pitch up and replace it with grass should we be promoted, it is vital that the next time the Football league vote on 3G, it is successful. What we and the 3G alliance don't need is to allow skeptics to be put off by seeing us play on a tired pitch at step 1 of the non-league pyramid. I've heard the 50 hour limit mentioned before, but can find no direct mention of it. The rules for 2016/17 haven't been published yet. Do you have a link to information about the hours limit? If we assume the pitch is good for x number of hours then limiting its use should ensure it lasts more years, so it affects the payback period and not necessarily the viability of 3G. It would certainly change the financials of the club in the short term though. When the National League had their meting at which the vote was taken, I remember somebody present or following proceedings saying that they had discussed / were going to a). introduce the stipulation that 3G pitches would have to be replaced if promotion is won to the FL, and b). weekly usage would be capped at 50 hours. When the rules are finally published I fully expect both to be included in it.

Anyone going to be buying a piece of the old pitch?
And does it include free rubber crumb?

I'm pretty sure that's old news that has since been discredited.

When I get up and go and buy another pint it is probably a fair assumption that I've finished that pint and want another! Now I could have a perfectly drinkable and full pint on the table and I purely want to line them up I would think that the assumption that we either failed, or were worried about the 3g reaction if it was deemed poor, is a reasonable assumption to make on what is, a fans forum! After all with a new team to fund and a new stand, its seems unlikely that we would just last minute decide we will get a new pitch! Now with the wife and handbags, apparently you can never have too many! How many wives do you have then, Tim?

I'm pretty sure I remember the Guardian running an article based on these claims and the BTL pretty much rubbishing it. Besides, it only seems to be cases in America anyway, and their 3G surfaces may very well be different.

Seven years on, are we getting a new pitch?
Apparently there’s nine plastic pitches in the NLS next season.
Maidstone, Tonbridge, Hemel, Aveley, Havant, Worthing, Oxford, Eastbourne, Slough.
An opponent of the plastic might blame ours for all the injuries.

An opponent of the plastic might blame ours for all the injuries. Oliver has frequently mentioned the need for budgeting for a new pitch in the near future. They only have a limited life (5 or 6 seasons?), so this isn't unexpected, especially as ours has looked awful for several years now. I assumed that he was talking about getting the pitch replaced this summer, I also assumed the cost has been bugeted for. But, as far as I'm aware, Oliver hasn't actually been specific on either of these points. As for 3G causing injuries, tempting as it might be to think this season 'proves' this, the evidence isn't there. All the studies to date have failed to come up with any correlation. And there's a lot more 3G pitches in use these days, so your expect any problems to be pretty obvious by now.

Replacing ours with another 3G pitch may be seen as a lack of ambition by the glory hunters who are already calling for the owners heads. Any glory hunters reading this should take note of Hednesford Town supporters who wanted their chairman/owner out, they got their wish they now have no chairman,no ground and no club .They have withdrawn from the league and folded.
