Paul Doswell bound for Havant + taking a lot of ( ex ) Sutton players with him - according to the gossip / trash on twitter - that's one team we might struggle to finish above next year. One of several! I think we should get used to the idea that next season is about rebuilding from scratch and building for the future, not getting straight back into the NL. Given that almost a third of the table is playoff places, I think we don't have much choice but to aim for that, but I still think of this as consolidation and recovery, not trying to get straight back where we struggled so badly. Let the others kill themselves fighting to get back up. We should go back only when we're ready. I respect Sutton a lot as a club & have friends amongst their support, but if this is true I'd put money right now on them leaving the National League next year ( from the bottom end ).

They are basically us, but with less support. The same applies to Dover, Bromley, Maidenhead, etc - take away whatever is keeping them up (money or an exceptional manager), and they'll be back where they belong in a season or two. Our only advantage is our support. I fear that isn't enough on its own, but it's a good starting point - something solid to build on. And a much better option in the long run than a short-lived sugar daddy, or a lucky season or two.

If Doswells nicking the squad that might make it too hard for whoever takes over to recruit NL quality. Maybe Jay is better off at Concord!

Wouldn't go near Sutton, certainly wouldn't go to Concord, better off staying @ 'gate ( although that bridge is burned I guess ).

I think he could do a job at Sutton, but it would be pretty much the same as he did here - trying to keep them up each season. But, you never know, he may have gained enough from his NL experience here to actually do something more than that, especialy with more supportive owners. I think it would be very unwise to write Jay off, just because he struggled in his third season with us. He's a proven manager, including at NL level. He would be wasted at somewhere like Margate - he was just a caretaker there. Having said all that, I think we're more likely to see him at NS level this season, but I'd be very surprised if he doesn't go back up to NL with someone in the next season ofr three - and then higher.

Has anyone thought that Saunders could be at Gillingham next season?

Lots of people have thought that but the consensus is that said scenario is extremely unlikely

Has anyone thought that Saunders could be at Gillingham next season? Gillingham will appoint the thoroughly obnoxious fat c-bomb Steve Evens.

That's a brilliant appointment for Havant.

Wonder what made him leave Sutton? He brought so much to them and you'd have thought the only way he would move on would be to a higher level. The only thing I can think of is that he got tired of Sutton 'bottling' promotion because of their plastic pitch. But why then Havant?
