Ebbsfleet from the off had just a touch more class than us. They were fantastically drilled at the back, and their midfield absolutely hounded us. They proved they are a side who have played at this level for a while, and we were just a little too naive when dwelling on the ball for too long and not producing enough chances out wide.
I think it's new league nerves if anything. We looked naive and far too cautious. The only time everyone seemed positive (crowd included) was from a dead ball, and that was where we really threatened tonight. Had our two best chances carved from corners / free kicks.
Definitely not all negatives, but we have a few things to learn for sure. As someone mentioned - we won't face a team that will press us that impressively for 90 minutes until we meet Ebbsfleet again this season. Hats off to them - it takes some serious stamina to keep that up for 90 minutes and they didn't give up until the last minute. We gave it our all, and it did come down to just a little bit of luck in the end. It just wouldn't fall for us tonight...
MOM for me was Manny Parry. Incredible athlete and was consistent throughout. I take away any doubt I had about the guy in pre-season, he's a class act.

I know its early, but i really worry where the goals are gonna come from if Collin & May is our forward line for the season I agree. Jay looked a little lost tonight but I guess he just didn't get the service he needs. He can always cause problems but it's a completely different set up to the Ryman Prem - Ebbsfleet's centre backs had him in their pockets all night. Not his fault, it's just a dynamic we'll have to adapt to this season as these guys had pace, power and positioning in abundance. Really impressive, but (fingers crossed) not every team will have a league standard back 4...

I think that tonight was the wake up game. This is the level that we need to achieve. I feel that the defence seems basically sound, the mid field has potential to rise to the challenge. I really fear that we have got little firepower up front. We appear to be limited to three strikers at the present time. I know it is early but from what I have seen so far we will struggle to score enough goals. I hope to be proved wrong but I think we may need to spend. I have to agree that Kedwell did not look all that great. I think that respectable mid table finish is realistic with the assets currently available. I must say that most players tonight gave it their all.

Still optimistic. Didn't think there was a big gulf in class between the two teams tonight. Ebbsfleet having a touch more composure was the main difference, and it might have been a different game had Manny's header gone in. Unfortunately Mannys header was actually drifting about a foot wide to the left, I suppose only really visible from town end angle, so not really cleared off the line, but nevertheless your point is still valid.

On the great side of things... We're still above Margate!

The Townend had a stinker - They are really off the pace.

A question. Where was the famed town end atmosphere tonight? Had it gone on holiday............... Who the hell are you to question TGFITW? There the Maidstone boys, and if you weren't aware it's them that make ALL the noise everywhere they go.

I know its early, but i really worry where the goals are gonna come from if Collin & May is our forward line for the season Pretty certain Jay will be making a loan signing at some point. Probably from a league club for a young striker who needs development time Will eat my season ticket if this prediction is wrong !
