Good stuff, as usual.
There were 'opinions' expressed about the pronunciation of Greenhouse's name around us on the terraces - with very little agreement. So we waited to see it he wold score and what the PA man would call him. Although he scored twice, we couldn't make out what the announcer said either bloody time!!
Why is the Tannoy so deafeningly loud before the game, but so utterly crap during it???

I think it's established that it's pronounced 'Smith'

Call him Ben g, and be done with it. Benji. Does sound like a dog name though. Who remembers that pikey supermarket bejam? There was one in west Wickham.

Well, a quick surf comes up with at least THREE different pronunciations!
GreenHALL
GreenHALSH (or holsh)
GreenHALJ
You takes your pick.
Northern name (from around Bolton, apparently), with Nordic origins - hence the weird spelling/pronunciation.

Bejam became Iceland. There was one under the multi-storey car park down by the river (on the corner of Fairmeadow and Medway St) It was knocked down a few years ago - had the tightest clearances I've ever seen in a car park, masses of paint marks/scrapes on every pillar!
It was a car showroom (BMW or Mercedes?) before Bejam took it over.

The Tannoy didn't have a good preseason & fades away after kickoff.
