As a wolves n stones fan this result is a double blow. Lots of wolves fans are very unhappy about this result. Admittedly it was only our youngsters but many fans feel with an ex Barcelona youngster n a few ex Chelsea youth we should have been far too strong for the gate. Unfortunately not. They're gonna be one hell of a force next this season

You'll have to take into account that there were six 17 year olds in the Wolves line up. No matter what pro club they come from, there's a huge step between youth and men's football. Not to mention the increased physicality of non league football compared to the fairys in the pro leagues.
But still, 5-1 is impressive.

Margate like us have only played friendlies so far, and they give very little indication of how the season will pan out. However, a team of adult non-league players should always give a team full of youngsters a tough time whatever their level, just through superior physical strength and experience. Margate haven't won the leave yet whatever some people might think.

Why worry about what they did to a bunch of 17 year olds. Jay had it right playing the likes of Concord Welling ect and we had some good results in true tests. Did Margate lose to Dover and only just beat Folkestone. The proof starts on the 9th

People forget why this friendly was arranged - it wasn't to send Wolves first team or reserves for a test.

Jay had it right playing the likes of Concord Welling ect and we had some good results in true tests. Chatted to him after the game last week, he said league clubs coming down are good for the fans, but he'd much rather play competitive friendlies against clubs in and aroundus in the pyramid. Can't argue with the logic. Added advantage we have are not needing clubs to come down and bolster our gate/revenue. Bognor had Pompey down last week and are raving about how the 2000+ gate has set them up for the season! Shows how well we're doing really, when we are able to forsake that for a £1 charity friendly a week before the season begins

Building nicely towards that

I've been so unenthused this pre-season, roll on the real thing (cos you to me are everything).

It's great to see the Champions Elect getting all this coverage. I didn't go yesterday but, having nipped on to the OS I was able to get out result.

I wonder if the wolves fans were surrounded by stewards like we were last time we played there?
