"Trying to get any kind of service at all in certain restaurants on the sea front isn't happening either".
I must admit I have never tried them. I cycled there (as you do) about 18 months ago ad did find a cracking chippy closer to the old town. Fish and chips in a cardboard box and then a cycle back. I would say they should ask them about the regeneration side of things as they seem to be getting it right

Margate took out AFC Wimbledon 3 - 0 yesterday, so some reason to be worried about that. Nothing out of the ordinary. Margate's first came from a mishit cross much like Tom Pett's goal against us last season. Their second goal was an absolute gift after the Wimbledon decided to turn the Margate player in his own 6 yard box. Their third goal, was a good build up play I have to admit. Wouldn't say Margate dominated, just took their chances. Matt Tubbs of Wimbledon should have bagged himself a hattrick but couldn't hit the target once. It seems margate are very weak when it comes to set pieces when it doesn't fall to their tall fella at the back (Wassamer is it)? Sounds like typical pre-season stuff. No pressure in such games. The teams that perform the best under pressure will be there or thereabouts at the business end of the season

pre-season games mean nothing at all. Just a way of people getting fit and a chance for supporters to catch up.

I worry that Margate will spend lots on regeneration only for the mighty Herne Bay to still be so far out in front in superiority that it will be embarrassing.
For those of you that followed the advice of daddy meerkat when Stones played in Herne Bay in 2013, I was at the Prince of Wales for the world cup final. Very pleasant atmosphere, convivial company and we even had some Argentina-supporting Austrians to add a continental flavour to things. Herne Bay the European city of Kent

I haven't been to Margate since 1986. Is Benbom Brothers still there?

All jokes aside I think we should just let margate get on with there business and concentrate on the important stuff like maidstone utd its all that counts

It will be a relief not to be the club that everyone raises their game against for a change. Let them all knock themselves out trying to beat Margate, while we quietly work towards the play-offs.

Not worried about them ,they should win the league.
All i'm worried about is us not winning the playoffs.
As for the regeneration of Margit i was pleasantly surprised on a recent visit.Trouble is its only a tiny area, walk or drive just outside that area and it really is very deprived and rundown ,it stands out and is more noticeable now so the regeneration to an area around a gallery for visitors has done it no favours.

Why are so many people so convinced that Margate will win the league? Are there not 23 other teams in the division? I reckon there are ay least half a dozen teams who will be there or there abouts any of whom could win it. Yes, Margate are certainly one of them but so are we, and unlike some of you, I wouldn't write Tonbridge off. I think it'll be a more competitive league this year without one runaway leader.

Probably because of the money they are spending in assembling a squad this year. A bit like Wealdstone were assembling a good experienced squad last year and...er...ran away with te league. Not sure why you are so wanting Tonbridge to be up there.

It's not that I want them to be up there. It's just that it's unusual for a relegated team to do badly, and also, if it's anything like last year, apart from half a dozen teams the standard if the rest of the division was pretty ordinary.

DAVEU ..Margate will win the league, they have spent the most and assembled a great squad of players
Lewes and VCD will be my outside bet to join the better teams . Lewes will be the most improved team on last year .Tonbridge have a whole new squad bar one player they have signed a whole team of ressies, and bit part players from other clubs, rejects from lower leagues on the whole.Looking at who they have, not one would get in our first team.
Lowestoft were not really top six all season..but they got it right,at the proper time.
Margate,Maidstone,Dulwich,Hornchurch,Bognor,Lewes VCD...Top 7 spots ,cant see past those .

Agree almost entirely with pmh. However I think Bognor have had it, lost quite a few important players. Sensed after they beat us that they knew they needed it last season. And yes, Lewes would be a good outside bet
