Certainly the pesky newbies will be pretty oblivious to any aggro in the past, we've played a couple of friendlies since we were reformed in 2012 with no issues at all (to my knowledge) Speaking as a "mediumby" I have probably seen around 8 games between the sides, and have either been fortunate to miss any aggro, or had too many nice meals to notice - because I've never seen any! Even when we lost 1-0 there towards the end of Fordy's time, we were clearly going down and there was no in your face gloating or anything - so if that's anything to go by it's a pretty poor rivalry! Ant! You miss the one thing that changed at the end of the 2012/3 season. What was that then? I really don't think something that happened 12 months ago prompted a rivalry that began several years earlier

Never had a problem and quite enjoy it when I go. Always had a good chat with their fan when they have been to us in the past as well. According to ob1 you must have had too many nice meals in that case. Either that or we know how to avoid confrontation...ouch my eye

Neither was getting kicked off their forum, I suppose. Like going to Longmead, it hasn't been missed either. The first season I stopped going to Longmead I went to watch Nottingham Forest and raised £50 towards our ground fund running a sweepstake to guess which game I was going to be at. A positive all round experience for me.

For clarity, I have no problem with the club. In fact, on my last visit to Longmead, I was invited as a guest of the chairman.
What I did not enjoy on my visits there was the nasty atmosphere. I disliked the game with the two 'bouncers' although I don't think our fans covered themsleves in glory that day. I disliked the bunch of 'supporters' standing at the gate goading people as they left. I disliked the idiot that came into our end of the ground with a clear intent on causing trouble. Anyone who has followed the forums will have seen incident after incident involving this club's 'supporters. I recognise that the idiots are a small minority but I prefer to avoid what I witnessed as unenjoyable back in 2008 (I think).

Let's hope some of the words being typed on message boards do not encourage idiots from both clubs to make match days unpleasant for those who are not keyboard warriors, and just want to enjoy the football.

I did do the walk once but was a little knackered to drink. Never drank anything at our place as I was stewarding. Looking through the responses of some of the posters I can see it is people that tend to get a bit aggressive after a few pints so I'm not surprised they have problems. We have more than our fair share of fools that go there looking for problems and get wound up for it from the off.

There was certainly a level of unpleasant reaction to unpleasantness back in 2008 (I think it was 2008 anyway). I spent much of my afternoon interjecting in kick offs and trying to smooth things over. I also had to promise to look after one of our own on the terraces because the stewards were about to go and throw him out. Likewise, I have always driven to Longmead so drink has never been a factor for me. I just found the experience unpleasant and stopped bothering to go.

Ant - We had a rivalry going back 10 - 15 years but things were "complicated" by their 2 best players joining us last summer.
