In a game we had to win, why go with negative tatics in the first half! Bognor conceded goals so why didn't we go for the juggular instead of a five man midfield!! Baffled of Maidstone would like an answer. I agree, a must win game, but can only play with what we've got....

I thought the second half was pretty exciting, I preferred today's match to a number of the home draws we ground out even though we lost (to an obviously better team - on the day).

I am a big supporter of Jay but thought we should have been more positive 1st half. Should have played Zac up front with Frannie! Put Bognor on the back foot. 2nd half was better when we changed mindset & tactics!!

Christ! I know we lost and it was hugely disappointing but they are a good side and I don't think we were that shabby. We didn't take our chances again and we were outplayed in midfield but for the fan who was baying for Jay's blood at the end and was loudly arguing with Trigger get a grip and shame on you.

Very negative 1st half when we should have gone for it.Ref was a complete joke and Jay's tactics are best described as lacking.Highlight for me was the clown behind me who said too his mate-Why are we spending 1 million on a new stand when we should be spending it on new players.

A lot of issues to reflect upon but, in the final analysis, it did not look like enough of the players wanted the win badly enough today. Well, not as much as Bognor Regis players. They always battle to the very end, but we seem to save our best for when the chips are down in the big games.
Referee: poor that he was, he may have denied us chances to score, including one stonewall penalty from where I was stood, but he was not the one missing the numerous chances that we created. We certainly kept their 'keeper busy, but rarely created any consistent quality strikes on target. That has cost us dearly, particularly in the latter stages of the season.
Midfield: we sorely missed Micky Phillips today. Not only was there a lack of tackling from the midfield at times, but there seemed a huge reluctance to get on the ball and affect the game in a positive way. We looked more threatening and effective when Robertson and Harris replaced Parkinson and Butcher. They both appeared more eager to participate in the game.
Tactics: I am a big supporter of Jay and believe that he is certainly someone capable of taking a strengthened squad to new heights next season. However, I was baffled that we did not start with a team to create havoc in a defence which has leaked 7 goals in the last 2 games. Maybe he felt that Hughes-Mason does not offer much defensive protection to the right flank but, to be honest, the Bognor Regis left back had freedom to penetrate a long way into our half for certainly most of the first half and some of the second anyway. If their Defence was suspect, why not start with Flisher and Hughes-Mason on the flanks and have a real go at creating some problems for them from the outset? It is hard to do damage going forward when you are busy defending, which we experience all too often.
Wins from the remaining games might add some gloss to the season, but my feeling is that we have now missed the opportunity to capitalise on the slip-ups of those teams above us. The door was left open to us to get into the playoffs, but we have just peeked inside the door rather than kicking it down!
Good season overall, but disappointing end from a promising start and middle!
