Since when did paid supermarket delivery drivers expect a tip? I tip for excellent service, not just turning up and dumping crates on my doorstep with half the items wrong anyway. Wrong items have nothing to do with the drivers. We often went out of our way for customers, despite Tesco treating us like shit. We didn't do it for the tips, it's just natural to try to do a job well and with some pride, especially where you're helping out the elderly, disabled people, mums with young kids, etc. But we worked bloody hard on shite money, so the tips were very welcome - although, for me personally, the fact that someone recognised that I'd done a good job, was more important than the extra money. Tesco just took us for granted - the only acknowledgement you got was a bollocking if something went wrong.

Having spent over 30 years in the catering trade i am vehemently anti tipping . No one should have to rely as many waiting staff do on the casual act of the customer to receive a living wage Fair pay for a job well done . And please don't get me started on service charges or tip options that appear on visa bills .
