I think Luke Rooney must have had a word with the Grays player that very nearly knocked my pint out of my hand playing the ball out for a corner!!!! I did ask him to have a word!!!!

Some of these songs are done in jest. I remember the jibes at Stuart King which promoted fierce debate on here. I was being told that Parkinson was subjected to some disgusting abuse by some individuals. If that is the case then it is not acceptable. Please point out perpetrators of said abuse to a steward and they can then be dealt with. A couple of silly songs are not necessarily abuse however maybe a follow up of chanting the player's name might be a good idea to show it is in jest. Those that were about in Kent League days (yes yawn...sorry) will remember the 'how high do you want the goal' chants at our own players and the way they used to join in and gesture the height to the crowd.
For the record, I think Dan Parkinson was one of the best players on the park when he came on. Midfield really suits him.

Those jibes at Stuart King last year were terrible and you could see it eating away at him, yes I know he was a complexed lad, but he was a good player and he decided to leave, I don't want the same to happen with some of the quality players we have currently, regarding the chants at the county or kent league days, the players were different back then and probably used to it, 17 year olds aren't and it can destroy their morale and more importantly their careers, let's get behind the lads

I'm not sure which chants you are referring to. I was talking about Ant's booing when he scored and the sell him shouts (when he scored) which I was happy to join in with because it is terrace humour at this level. I'm not sure they were that terrible. I often shout 'get him sold' when Frannie does something good, partly in response to those that boo him and partly because of Bryan complaining about those that slag him off.

The trouble with our current journeyman is that over the last 10 years or so the county, aside from the red half of Manchester, have grown use to phrases like "f@!k off Rooney" or "Rooney you're sh!t"...not aided by inept performances in an England shirt and now the well publicised new contract......the thought of shouting supportive "Rooney" comments is at odds with the years of hurling abuse at a big screen in a drinking establishment.
God knows what it would be like if Jay signed Harry Hitler or Micky Mugabe......
That said Mr Luke is clearly a very very good player.....as for Rooney....

The chants were also always followed up bu a "kingy, kingy" chant. With regards to Parkinson, I did not hear the chant or any abuse on tuesday (and no that isn't a dig at the town end's volume!) but after speaking to certain people yesterday it appears that some personal and disgusting abuse was dished out to the lad after the game and the culprits are sought after

I will admit I said you're going the wrong way , it was just a bit of harmless banter and it was never intend for dan to hear it I didn't scream it , it's a bit if banter between a few of us , because when he first played I didn't rate him so the dans on the ball etc has stuck , but I will admit he is improving game by game and looked better in midfield tues night ,
