A very enjoyable game which in all honesty was never in doubt , considering we won 5-0 it was a strange feeling walking out of the ground, when as it has already been posted we have played better and ended up with a draw, a lot of credit must go out to the wingate and Finchley supporters who were in good spirit throughout the game and I for one am looking forward to their return visit next year

Agreed that it was an odd performance. We have definitely played a lot better and drawn at home. Not complaining though, tend to only remember the end.. and scoring 2 goals in the last 5 mins is great !
Luke Rooney is some player, far too good for us. If we can get him playing in his best position, just behind the strikers (where he finished today), we will be unstoppable (at home anyway !).

I agree with Mellow. I thought we were pedestrian today. I didn't think W&F were up to much although their supporters were a nice bunch with a strange array of songs and flags. I thought Maidstone were able to coast through the match because the opposition offered little threat. Having said that we stuck at things, looked well on top and scored 5. Spot on.
I thought the Springfield End second half was more entertaining than the Town End/ Most of the first half passion at the Town End seemed to be coming from that Meerkat guy. Good to see the Toon SA/Geordie Sennockian twinning association together in the first half.

Service should be resumed for the Tuesday night game against Grays.

Not sure I'd call us pedestrian, at least not for the whole game. Played some neat stuff at times but didn't really have to get out of second gear to overcome a team who, while they were a decent passing side, had virtually no end product. Overall I enjoyed the first half, but the second with all the changed and stoppages didn't really get going until the last few minutes.

Toon, I've seen District 9 so consider myself an expert, but do you all speak like "farkin prawn" out in S Africa? It's up there with Dick Van Dyke (Circa Mary poppins) for amazing accents. Just wanted your first hand opinion.

I’d like to add my observations of the match/day from an away supporter’s perspective.
On the whole, the experience was faultless. This makes it sound like some patronising fun park, but frankly the opportunities to play in front of 1700 spectators at this level are few and far between.
From the moment we arrived at the ground we were made to feel very welcome; it was nice to exchange chat with home fans without the slightest hint of malice or superiority complex. My only negative observation – if indeed there were one – is that Maidstone don’t make a lot of noise for the huge fan base they have.
As for the game itself, Maidstone fully deserved the win. If there is any sense left in the game, the Conference will approve 3G pitches and allow the Stones their place in the Conference South, should it come to it.
Failing that, we hope to see you in the league next season, assuming we beat the drop!.

Nice one Finchleyn12, always good to hear the opinions and thoughts from an opposition fan, good to read the many comments on Twitter with words such as "impressive, class, superb, and even surreal" being used. Not easy to come out with such positives on the back of a 5-0 deafeat.
I even read "I hope they go up" from one of your fans.......which is in total contrast to most of what is written about us at the moment.
Best of luck fir the rest of the season.

There's a lot of talk on other website about the 3G generating a "plastic football ground experience" but these tend to come from people who've not been to the Gallagher Stadium. Nice to hear the above comment (and most comments from those who've actually been) that the "match-day experience" that the staff at MUFC provide is appreciated by away fans.
Don't disagree about the lack of noise thing, but think we need more echoy roof put in behind the goal. Also noise does get lost as plenty of people shouting all round the ground but hard to hear from other parts of the ground.

Failing that, we hope to see you in the league next season, assuming we beat the drop!. Thanks for taking the trouble to post. You're right, we were very quiet today, I'm not sure why. Generally it hasn't been anywhere as noisy as it was last season - novelty wearing off, different people going, fans more split between the two sheds - who knows? Partly it's probably because it all feels a bit unreal at the moment. Most of us expect Wealdstone to take the Championship, so there's no longer the same excitement over that, and then there's the very real possibility that we won't be allowed in the play-offs, so again that takes the edge off a bit. On top of that there was the very one-sided nature of today's game. Sorry to say this, but W&F just didn't seem up for it - as others have said, we've played much better (and better teams) and drawn, so it didn't seem real that we were strolling, but winning easily. I missed the 7-2 game, so I can't actually remember the last time we were comfortably ahead before half-time. The ref also had a very easy game - so either he was a superb ref, or neither side was really trying that much. Normally, visiting sides are fairly physical at the Gallagher and we get frustrated in response, so there's usually a fair few yellows. But today, nothing. Anyway, all the best for the rest of the season, I think you'll avoid the drop. And I fear we WILL be playing you again next year.

Always a lot quieter when the sun comes out...has been for years. Just seems everyone gets a lot more laid back as spring approaches.
