Anyone planning on going to Dulwich by train?
Seems a bit of a treck.
12:18 from Maidstone East, arriving East Dulwich at 14:05 changing at Victoria and Peckham Rye.
Or 12:55 from Maidstone East arriving at 14:35.

1055 Maidstone East change at Otford, change at Peckham Rye, get off at Dulwich East - simples.
Unless there's engineering works, as rumoured, then it's over to TimTim to sort/advice on alternatives!

You can walk it from Herne Hill if you change at Bromley South, it's only half a mile.

Engineering works only seem to be on the Sunday, so you're fine. I do the journey pretty regularly - change at Otford and Peckham Rye, as Ragstone suggests. Walk from Peckham Rye if the East Dulwich connection is more than 15 minutes - couple of nice pubs on route.

Engineering work between Otford and Sevenoaks on Satuday *Writes strongly-worded email to nickthestone* Doesn't make any difference as trains between Maidstone and London don't use that line. There are, however, engineering works between Peckham Rye and East Dulwich, and a replacement bus service is operating. Nevertheless, the best route still seems to be: 1055 (or 1118) Maidstone East - 1134 (or 1204) Bromley South 1201 (or 1231) Bromley South - 1220 (or 1250) Peckham Rye BUS: 1230 (or 1300) Peckham Rye - 1235 (or 1305) East Dulwich You can also go forward or back an hour on the above times, depending on when you want to get there. Return journeys by the same route leave East Dulwich at 03 and 33 minutes past each hour, and taking about 90 minutes to return to Maidstone. The cost for the above journey is £16.80 return, for tickets that avoid London Terminals (if you change at Victoria instead of Bromley, then it's nearly £20, with no saving on time). For those without railcards, money can probably be saved by buying a Group-3 or Group-4 Saver Return, if these still exist (they've never been advertised on the website).

I went with to Dulwich with Tim Tim's travel last season and it was a jolly nice journey with a few bevvies either side of the game. I would urge people not to listen to Dave U moaning about travelling. He rarely does it so it is a bit scary for him.

Oi, who's taking my job? I would think we will be doing the 10.55 via Bromley, the 'spanner' was the pub we were going to use was rumoured to be closed, plus it appeared no trains thro' east Dulwich. As has been said there are many alternative stations all about half a mile walk, but we may need to find a nice pub if Hoopers Bar is closed, and that is normally left to Trevor ' I can smell a nice pub from 20 miles' Brockway I think the plan is also to take in a bit of 'breckie' before we leave! Further statement to be made soon! ;D

Would probably be quicker to walk rather than wait for the bus to arrive, and there may be pubs en route. Depending on how many people are going, might want to give the pub advance warning! Can imagine one person trying to serve a group of 20.
