That's what it always used to do? And if the club has the right contacts to do coach travel without having any finacial risk, what is left for a supporters club to do otherwise?
Needs to be independent though and obviously funds could also be used to the benefit of supporters as well, but ultimately we want the club to be as successful as possible that usually means financial support. We have all been quick to say that ground needs terracing, bogs and a scoreboard, but someone has to pay for them?

As an exiled supporter living in Ipswich, coach travel doesnt really affect me but I do feel that a club with the support that the Stones get, certainly needs a supporters club to deal with things like coach travel. As for BTSH, this should continue as before but aiming to raise funds towards other ground improvements and be renamed Ground Development Association ( or something similar)

Are we going round in circles here? The club can organise coach travel, they just need people to use it? This leaves the supporters club free to fundraise? Why do we need to seperate the SC from fundraising?

Could I suggest a meeting tomorrow before/after the game tomorrow? Bit short notice like.

Why do we need to seperate the SC from fundraising? Perhaps Nadine could confirm for me, but my understanding is the club would prefer the supporters to organise travel?

Why do we need to seperate the SC from fundraising? Because wasn't / isn't the BTSH thingy supposed to be continuing to raise funds under a different guise? The supporters club biggest objective should be to give the supporters a voice. Then use excess money at the end of the season to help the club in some way if that's what people want. BTSH was always about fundraising, alas it's always been a tad murky on how official / independent it is what with club officials helming it.

I definitely still need to carry on with the fundraising so I guess we need to find out what is happening with BTSH? As you say, it's a bit murky around how independent it is, so what would supporters prefer, past experience would suggest they prefer it to be independent but I think part of that was down to a previous lack of trust in the previous regime?

So Tim makes another attempt to get his middle-aged geezers boozer coaches going again! ;D ;D ;D ;D I think an Independent Supporters Club is an excellent idea. However, I do remember how difficult it was in past with everything being left to one or two people. If this were to be run then there has to be plenty of people willing to pitch in and not leave things to one or two people. Personally, I would be happy to get involved in this although exactly how much time I could realistically give would limit my involvement so thanks for the vote, 'antstone, but I don't think I could be chairperson. ;D

PS Maybe the initial chats could be about who is prepared to get involved, what the functions of the SC would be and who would be the most ideal people to do this. I think compartmentalising the functions so people are fully aware of what their role is and the expectations of said role overseen by an active chairperson is the best way forward.

The supporters club should be whatever the supporters want it to be! That's the point, it's a club run for the benefit of the supporters. That might be away travel to some That might be fund raising for something to make the supporters more comfortable ie toilets terracing clocks etc That might be a voice to the owners (for those that don't get hunted down by Bill ;D) It can be anything and everything, and now with 1500 regular supporters I believe we should have one again! NWS is right (god that hurt ) we need to break it down into functions (like we did before) and try and improve our (and the clubs) lot"
