Not exactly a good time to welcome them to the G. Riding high in the table, their away form has been strong, winning four of their last six, losing just one and with a 14-5 goal difference too. Our home from is now 2-3-1 with 10-9 for goals. Greenidge looked pretty wasted at the end of Saturday, but can Fowler play tomorrow, despite the red card? Indeed, will the club appeal? Without Bone, Kyprianou and Hoyte, we suddenly look short of options at the back, so Lucas could be busy. At the moment, a point may be a decent result, but strange things have been happening of late, not least Welling winning at Yeovil, so who knows?

At the moment, a point may be a decent result, but strange things have been happening of late, not least Welling winning at Yeovil, so who knows? Not sure Welling winning at Yeovil is that strange. All obvious leaders have wobbly moments towards the end of the season, and Welling have improved a lot recently. As we are going to find out soon... If we can't beat St A and Bath, I don't hold out much hope for Chelmsford. OK, these things happen, but usually that's because a side or individual players are under-performing, so have the spare capacity to 'unexpectedly' play better. But I would argue that we're not in that position - our current form is pretty much what you would expect from the last 10-20 league games. We are a just scraping into the play-offs side, Chelmsford are 2nd/3rd place contenders in consistently good form. Of course, if we had the sort of players who can suddenly pull out a match-winning performance... But I don't see any on the pitch at the moment. All our forwards struggle to score, or midfield only goes backwards or lumps the ball forward, and our defense is shite.

BetFred has us as surprising favourites at 3/2 with Chelmsford at 7/4. I am actually gonna get a price on Chelmsford to overhaul Yeovil and pip them to the title as I think Yeovil are faltering and Chelmsford are flying. I apologise in advance for being negative but I don't think we will even get close to beating them tomorrow night especially with players injured, suspended and generally out of form. The way my betting is going this year that means a 5-0 to Maidstone🤣🤣🤣. I've predicted 0-2 but it could easily be worse than that. I still think we will somehow scrape into the playoffs but I do feel we are not good enough to win them.

Overall on this and on other threads it’s understandably pretty negative for us to either get anything out of this game or even make play offs. Football eh? Not many days ago we were dreaming of doing an Ipswich at Coventry! Because we are lifted by big games I think we would do well in playoffs - but I’m not sure if we will get there unless we view every game like an fa cup game or a play off - starting with Chelmsford. Be good to see Liam Sole start on Tuesday as he always looked dangerous in those big games. COYS!

As Swordy says, if Yeovil keep losing games, Chelmsford have a slight chance of catching them.
We put in full effort every game, but that’s not enough against better players in good form.
My heart and head are predicting very different results.
Imagine if we ended up playing Yeovil in the play offs!

Down at the Huish in the final, what a mouthwatering finale that would be,as long as I don't get headbutted on the train station again 🤣

Not there, but sounds like a good night. Clean sheet certainly great for morale, so well done everyone.

So much better than Saturday. Played well tonight against a very decent team. Competitive performance, if only we would play short passing movement more often. Looked really good at times. The referee deserves a mention. He was terrible !

We played ok. Just about shaded it. Oddly they looked like the poorest of the 3 teams we’ve played this past week or so. They’ll probably feel like they deserved a point though.
We looked a bit quicker and more fluid with the ball today and the game took place further up the field and had so much more control because of it.
Ref seemed to be giving them everyone until he didn’t. For the two big decisions right though.
Mentions for Rush for tireless effort. Tanga again, brilliant, Reynolds good when he came on. Fowler and Reece good too. Lucas back to form with some good saves.
We edged it. Much needed.
Corne played like he thought he owed someone a performance. Brilliant.

Best overall performance since the first half against Yeovil. Considering we were playing against 12 for most of the game. No idea why the first goal was disallowed, don’t think the ref knew either and he got worse as the game went on. The only decisions that went our way were two he had no choice about.
A very good performance over 90 minutes for a change, and against a side who also looked decent. One of the most entertaining games at the Gallagher this season.

Well, that was so much better! Not just the result, but the way we played.
For my money, Chelmsford were the better of the three sides, and, for the first 15 or 20 minutes at least, I thought we were going to be lucky to get anything out of it.
But as the game went on, we seemed to settle down more, especially after halftime, and I don't think Chelmsford an complain about the result (although I'm sure they will!).
I was pretty much impressed with everyone tonight, with the possible exception of Faal. But then being the 'new Amantchi' is a bloody hard billing to live up to.
The ref was so inconsistent, that it could easily have spoilt the game, but at least he got the most important decisions right.
Hopefully, we've shaken off the post-Cup blues now and can continue to play like this. If we can, then the playoffs are stil looking pretty open.

It’s funny how people see the game differently as I thought Bath were the best of the three and Chelmsford the worst

I thought Faal was excellent. He never stops running and robbed defenders numerous times (as did Tanga). All the players deserve praise for that performance. The ref was a mystery. If one of their players went down they got a free kick. If one of ours went down he still gave them the free kick yet he still gave us a pen later a deserved red card to their #11. What a brave little player Tanga is. He was kicked and bundled all through the game but refused to be intimidated and won the pen.

I wonder at times what Matt Rush has to do to get a free kick, and his yellow, presumably for simulation, was outrageous. The ref got two decisions right, but only because he had no choice. They were so obvious that if he hadn’t given them you would seriously be questioning his integrity.
