I'm not sure they could have made the gantry look more oppressive if they'd tried! It badly needs a bit of yellow paint, or ads or sponsorship - or something! Anyone know why it wasn't in use yesterday? As for the game, if you weren't there, St Albans first goal just about sums up the game - they were better than us in just about every way - talent, organisation, organisation, organisation, awareness, passing... Fowler's card didn't look red then, and it still doesn't - St A clearly made a big deal of it to get him sent off. Mind you, it didn't help that there was a loud crack as they made contact - I think that probably influenced the ref more than what he saw. Oddly, the sending off didn't seem to make much difference initially, we actually looked more like scoring for a while either side of half-time. But, ultimately, it did tell and effectively gave them their second. I could say a lot more about the game, but I'm depressed enough as it is, the only Stones player who came out of it with any positives was out one-man midfield, Corne. If by some chance we make it to NL this season, he's probably the only player George should retain - and possibly Covolan, but I am no longer even convinced by him. Corne? Were you watching the same game as me. He was poor and looked knackered. Not sure why you’re having doubts about Covolan. Performances like Ipswich don’t come along for goalkeepers very often. He still looks a decent keeper and was not at fault for either of the goals. My only criticism is his insistence on going long every single time.

I thought Corne over hit every corner and freekick that he took and was well below par for him. If we stay in the South next season I would only keep about 6 players with Corne & Covolan on the list. The club should appeal the sending off!

To me he seemed to be the only player trying in midfield, but I bow to those with more football knowledge.
Again, perhaps only to me, Covolan just doesn't look like the same safe pair of hands as he was pre the Cup run.

Not Sam's best game, but still a fine player at this level. Highlights, for me, say it should not have been a red card. Fowler's studs were not high and their player made a meal of the tackle. Equally didn't think the foul on Tanga amounted to much. However, their first goal was the nightmare it looked at the time. Three of our players let one of theirs battle through for Jeffers to scuff his shot past Lucas. Their second looks a decent goal, but we were a man down by then. Stonestv must think all the offside decisions were correct. Being in the Town End, I can't comment. Ultimately, we've been done by a ref, again, but overall we weren't good enough on the day.

If I was a commentator, I’d much prefer main stand scaffolding and facilities to that isolated hummock which looks like a Warsaw Pact (look it up kids) watch tower. Either giant amber MUFC lettering or maybe this picture would brighten it up.

Just a opinion jdl that's all That's all I meant - if it came over as sarky, I apologise. I genuinely do defer to those with more football knowledge than me, especially if they have played the game. But I also say what I see/feel as a fan.

I assume the pictures are more likely to be chosen by company sponsors though.

When this forum posted that he was back St Allbran I thought someone was repeating very old Google info - I couldn’t believe it was current! Wheeler would have still been crap even with an older head working with him (I bet Tristan is well chuffed with him saying that!). Typical Harry to spout such sh1t. It was Jay that - with hindsight-needed the experienced older head football wise and more experienced club management at that level not Wheeler. Wheeler is an armchair fantasy league football supporter who talks absolute rubbish and for me in footballing terms “isn’t all there” just like the criminal chairman who gave him the Ricay job. Makes the result against stallbans even more annoying. Wheeler will always be the Clown. The conman who fooled Bill Oliver and Terry. It’s shocking to think he was only with us four months as it feels like it was four years. Kent Online shouldn’t have given him the airtime. Otherwise I’m sure he’s a lovely chap who’s good to his old Mum and great with the kids at the school he was teaching at. Just should never have a job in football management.

And yet there is a just a glimmer of truth in what Harry has to say. But only a glimmer. For sure he totally hoodwinked Oliver and Terry. But don't lots of people exaggerate themselves in job interviews and if you 'have the gift of the gab', so much the better. The fact is Wheeler had only achieved previously at a lower level with a vastly inflated budget. Our owners were mesmerised with his salemanship skills, that were clever, silky and slick. My God, what a mistake and don't the owners know it in retrospect. Terry and Oliver gambled big time and lost. To exchange Jay Saunders for Harry Wheeler was their worst decision ever and they know it. Nobody forced them to do it, they did it freely and regretted it very quickly. Harry totally dismantled the team and broke the spirit of the club which was the most hard thing to take, not his lack of success on the playing field. The Clown was woefully unqualified by his own lack of experience, sadly the project was doomed to fail from the outset. A truly shocking experience for all parties. But at the end of the day, its all in the past, the club came out of it battered and bruised, we learnt, we moved on.

Lack of Man-Management skills, and trying to manage like a 15 year old boy on Championship Manager games was the reason for his failure, not the lack of an experienced assistant manager, completely disrespectful to Tristan. 19 New players in about 14 games, no settled team at all. Look around a lot of clubs have young managers and a lot of them also have young assistant managers, there are a number that have a young manager and an experienced assistant but not many especially when you move down the leagues. One thing he is right about is that he is probably better at being a coach than being a manager, he also seemed to have decent contacts throughout the game being able to bring in certain players, from far and wide.

I bought into him as well. He talked such a good game.
Big mistake to employ him and to give him free reign was ever worse a mistake.
Big mistakes from him to shed so much experience - he lost players we loved and it was never wise.
The turn over of players was far too much - although some of those were decent.
At the end of the day, it was a cock up all round.
Feel no animosity at all towards the bloke.
