I would have preferred that Ipswich ticket went to someone who attends regularly, but is unable for financial or work reasons to commit to a season ticket. People like me, stew, Andre etc who are all making plans for Coventry. It will be game number 16 for me and they will be well above me on that count.

A lot of the Ipswich crowd won’t be there. And Coventry didn’t sell out the previous round. You “should” be OK. I’m currently 50/50 due to work, family and travel issues. If I miss it, I’ve had Ipswich.

Met a Chelsea fan at the Yeovil match for his second ever Maidstone game. He had been given a corporate freebie for Ipswich; one of dozens given to just one sponsor. It may have worked in the fact he was now trying out his local club. He seemed particularly excited by the violence. But on balance, I would have preferred that Ipswich ticket went to someone who attends regularly, but is unable for financial or work reasons to commit to a season ticket. This is the kind of thing our owners used to get scrupulously right, but despite previously defending them vehemently, makes me now question their judgement. To be fair, the sponsors put quite a bit of money into the club. It’s not a big issue for them to get a few free tickets in return. Who they then dish them out to us entirely up to them.

Supporters who turn up with a reasonable regularity also put money in. However, I have no issue with sponsors getting tickets for precisely the reason you gave. Its the age old problem of making sure regulars get tickets before people rocking up for the first time. How to do that? God knows. Is it necessary? Doubt it

I was so unhappy about not getting a ticket for the Play off final against Ebbsfleet that I vowed not to let it happen again so became a season ticket holder even though I worked weekday evenings. First season that it has worked for me.

It's the main benefit of being a season ticket holder. You have the opportunity to get tickets for the memorable matches.

I do however have some sympathy for regulars who couldn't/didn't get a season ticket for whatever reason. The obvious answer is for the club to start issuing vouchers ( starting this Saturday) one per person, at the turnstiles as people come in. Then in the likely eventuality we are in the play offs those with enough vouchers should get second preference ( after season tickets) IMHO.

That would work really badly for me, as I'm away in April and coming towards the business end of my course - so less likely to appear in March, but hey ho, seems the fairest you could you could do it now. I'll go to any away game when the plastics and arm wavers can't be bothered

Having purchased them, there is nothing stopping them giving the tickets (free of charge) to their employees, friends, potential clients etc.
