Another game where Matt Rush was stuck on the bench. I'd take him back, but the question is can we afford him, you have to imagine he got a big pay rise at Sutton. I think we would all take him back but here is one for you.................how many players have returned to the Stones from other clubs in the past three years? Anyone? Charlie Seaman

Gateshead have named Ben Clark as their interim manager following the departure of Rob Elliot to Crawley Town.
Elliot has left, along with his assistant Louis Storey and first-team coach Antony Sweeney, to take up the vacant manager's job at the League One club.
Clark will be supported "for the immediate future" by Luke Clark, captain Greg Olley and senior player Jacob Butterfield.
This is the former Sunderland defender's third spell in charge, after previous stints in 2015 and 2019.
Gateshead are currently fifth in the National League.
Elliot led the Heed to success in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley in May.
Defender Regan Booty said on X, external: "A group of staff that would genuinely do everything possible to help bring out the best in you as a player and a person.
"They deserve the move more than anyone and long may their success continue. Time for us to carry on from where they’ve left off and keep kicking on."
Fake news - Never a defender - maybe he will stay & fight.

Remember Jonathan "Jonny" Edwards? He couldnt seem to hit a barn door for us but last season was Southern League Central top scorer with 30 goals in 31 league games and 33 goals in 36 games in all competitions - despite missing the first 10 games of the season. Boy could we do with that kind of scorer in NLS! He gives all the glory to God. Maybe George needs less technology and super fitness and more prayer time!

Imagine if we could have hung on to even half the players we've lost to richer clubs over the last few years...

Another one we didn’t hang on to - analagous to this thread, I was at Folkestone on Saturday, and Beth Cooper came on to treat a player for what looked like a dislocated shoulder. I also (as is my wont) missed a goal by leaving after 90 minutes, but it didn’t matter much, as it just took Folkestone to 8 - 1 against Ascot Utd in the FA Trophy. In front of just over 200 diehards. The ground has improved since I was last there (although the parking is much worse), and now they are serving Harveys Best and London Pride on handpump.

Mo Faal tonight, home against Welling. Takes them to 10th - and pushes us down to 16th.
Welling's early season promise has collapsed. They were 9th 3 games in now 2 places/1 point off relegation.

Connor Kelly has joined Covolan, his former roommate, at Braintree If anyone's wondering what Covolan is doing at Braintree (other than earning more money than we could pay him) - the answer is keeping them up (just) They are one place and one point above relegation, after 13 games, but check out the goals for and against. On goals for (8) they are bottom. On goals against (13) they are 6th!
