If international football is meant to be the top of the pyramid, then England are piss poor tonight. The first half v Malta was about as exciting as watching Maidstone. Malta have the ambition of Eastbourne, Worthing or Dover, so if England have all the skill, they need a kick up the arse.

Second half was just as bad. The only things worse were the ref and the VAR. With the latter, Kane should have had a penalty and no yellow card. I'm sure he's got over it...

Looks like Nuneaton are in deep shit the much vaunted takeover has tonight collapsed. Nuneaton ownership is now in limbo and they remain homeless after being locked out of their ground.

Coventry are allowing them to play at 'their' stadium for free! Although possibly for only one game. Can a club that rents its stadium, 'sub-let' like this? Seems odd to me. Strange to think that those of us of a certain vintage remember Nuneaton as our major opponents in the old Conference the first time we won it - beating them by just one point! They came 2nd again the following year (Wealdstone were 1st). But that turned out to be their peak - two seasons later they were relegated at 18th for "financial irregularities" (they have a long history of such things) - incidentally, saving Welling from relegation in their first Conference season (Welling went on to play 14 seasons in the Conference). Rather ironically, that was also the season that automatic promotion came in, with Scarborough being the first team to be go up automatically. (We were 3rd that season, with Barnet 2nd.)

Shame, I liked Reece as a player. Wonder if he'll give up football or persist and turn up at Hythe Town as a coach or something.

And now Jack Paxman has come on. Ramsgate have been bossed and bullied by Wimbledon, but Joe has been the usual warrior in defence and Tom has done alright too.

Sad news reaching Swordy towers that Brandon United of the Northern League have folded this evening. Brandon in County Durham was one of my favourite little clubs to visit whilst in the North East. 😪

On the highlights I would say at least two goals came from The Rams trying to play out from the back. Why do teams at that level try to play like Man City, especially against a team four leagues higher.
