So Hak has gone along with his assistant. Where do we go from here? Big George is appointed caretaker. If he wins either of the next 2 games he will get the job permanently but more likely it will be a short term position. So who will be our next manager?

Hope it’s Jay Saunders as well. With hindsight did a great job for us at this level, understands the club and always built teams that the fans could get behind. Was also excellent at strengthening at this time of year. Remember when he brought in Stu Lewis and Reece Prestedge to bolster our midfield one January. A few good new additions and a re-energised squad and we’re not out of it yet!

Thanks for the memories Hakan.
Let’s get behind the successor.
Onwards and upwards.
Oh, and get rid of the cat botherer.

Indeed, many thanks Hak. Just because it hasn't worked out this season doesn't mean you won't always be respected.

It's been done to death but reading Joe Elull's comments have really surprised me. It goes to show that we as supporters never know the full story, but certainly it's not been as transparent since Jay's day!

Sad news but inevitable.
In my book not a time to celebrate but to thank Hak and Terry for such a fantastic season last year.
The National League was a bridge too far. Injuries didn't exactly help but there is more to it than that.
Big George has got such a big job in hand to try and turn things around.
OK only a temporary appointment but 4 weeks can see us sink or swim in terms of staying up or not.
Thanks for the memories Hak and good luck George.
Pretty sure all supporters will back him.

Great news for at least having a slim chance of survival. Anyone with any sense could see things needed changing, thank god the owners saw this too.

George will get all the support we are capable of providing - given that we are statistically almost assured of demotion, maintaining as much morale as possible is a good thing to do, and George will do that. Anything else would be miraculous. In the meantime, my best wishes to Hakan. I have no idea what the situation behind the scenes was, but my regard for Joe’s resilience wants to tick up somewhat. If what I read is accurate, it might explain why the captains armband wasn’t around the alpha leader on the pitch. I do hope Joe and George are good colleagues - that combination of inspiration and enforcer should be stellar.

Understandably perhaps, there seems to be a degree of bitterness in Hak's post sacking statements. There also seems to be a lot of stuff behind the scenes we haven't yet heard about. All is not rosy at the Gallagher, so good luck to George in sorting it out. Not that many people would argue with him, you'd think!

If there's anyone who can get this team motivated, it's Big George - and motivation may be just enough to keep dreams of surviving alive before the new guy arrives. (Although I'm not expecting miracles from the next two games!)
Personally, I've been pretty sure of relegation for weeks, so, if we do still go down, so be it. But at least I'll be at games for the rest of the season with hope and looking forward to the football, rather than just turning up out of loyalty.
As for Hak, I won't miss him, I always suspected that this was a level too far for him. He was never the future for MUFC. But goodbye and good luck - and thanks for last season.

It would appear that perhaps the club didn't learn as much as we hoped from Jay's sacking. I wonder what he'll think if he is line for the job? Nice to go back and finish the job he started, or very wary of returnning to that (this?) poisonous environment?

Same as - I won’t miss Hak and was never able to take to him as a Maidstone United manager and his bitter leaving comments show his main allegiance is to himself really not the club or the fans and not even to his key players he publicly slagged off and in private it seems was was even worse with them than we imagined! He is an Essex man better off at a Grays or Canvey or Thurrock in NLS or Isthmian. Good luck to him at a club like that where he may fit better. Didn’t expect big George to want to come back and if he performs a miracle will he get the job full time? Interesting times! It will be especially interesting to see how the players react on the pitch not under Haks critical pressure and alleged abuse. Some may switch off completely without a big stick and which ones feel free to play well. Let’s hope it’s the latter! Well done to Oliver Terry and Bill for making the right decision and COYS!

Well thats the end of the beginning.
Shame to hear supporters falling out over 'sack him' or 'back him'
I guess it was always thus.
The stuff going on behind the scenes is beginning to emerge and it doesn't sound great.
Whatever the rights and wrongs, it feels much better this morning even though everything is up in the air.
I hope supporters dont get too carried away with expectations.
There is a mountain to climb.
