That's more like it. Proper entertaining match. Looked good going forward most of the 90 minutes. Came very close to scoring a couple more. Plenty of running and quick passing. No doubts about the effort and commitment today. Some close stuff at both ends. Stones only just shaded it but a worthy 3 points and a bonus - GOOD FOOTBALL So why the abysmal stuff last week ?

I've said all along it's a confidence thing. Scoring so early certainly helped, but the self belief was tangible. Yes we had a few dodgy moments and Sandford made a couple of outstanding saves, but, especially in the second half, some of the passages of play were sublime.

Confidence must help But it is like comparing chalk and cheese. Last week was dull, boring and lacking movement, passing and inspiration. Today had the opposite of those features. It was a very good win and the way we played was actually a pleasure to watch for most of the time. For me Dom was probably MoM, possibly the first time for me. JBW was pretty close, so strong in the tackle and so good going forward. Barham worked very hard and he and Pattison caused them loads of problems. Missed Ellul but Reiss Greenidge is a real find and looks a great signing. We didnt have it all our own way, there were enough opportunities for Ryan Sandford to show his class.

….also I think it only fair timo note that “worst ever centre back” KFL let no one down when called into the game

Wasn't he skinned by their striker within a couple of minutes coming on, forcing an excellent save by Sandford ? I seem to recall 1 or 2 other similar occaions but perhaps I am being harsh.

Attendance 1825. So allowing for fewer away fans, that’s 700 Oldham glory hunting stayways. Probably helped having the more hardcore home fans, combined with a two goal cushion for much of the game. Meant the players could relax a bit and enjoy playing attractive football. Not completely there yet, but I’ve felt for a while things were improving. All the teams below us who played also dropped points. Did Star Security really try to throw Luque out? Also, another game where away fans were told no buying on the day, complained on social media so were allowed to. What is the actual policy? Excellent interview from Hakan. youtu.be/Sr3bD4x3QAgAnd highlights. youtu.be/zmufB8ObZd4

To be fair he improved in the second half but has weaknesses.
Should be able to head a ball and misses long balls which is a huge worry when your position is centre half.

So, great strike for their first goal, but never a free kick If anything should have gone the other way. Easy to see why Maidenhead don't score that many too, they wasted a fair few chances - plus some decent saves and shithouse defending from us. Shame about their second goal, but few are going to complain if we keep winning 3-2. Really pleased for Christy and Dom to score. Let's hope they have a few more goals in them this season.

Can anyone explain the actions of security barring the Spanish Wizard from coming into the Genco yesterday ? Joan Luque is already a legend with supporters but not it seems with these jobsworths. He did mamage it in the end, happily.
So many stewards around the place plus police officers too. Just a few over 50 odd friendly enough and pretty quiet Maidenhead supporters given a massive part of the Genco to themselves. All very strange. Seems the club is wasting money it can't afford. Hardly helps connect the club with supporters.

Currently 12th in the form league, ahead of a few clubs who are above us in the table. It’s like turning round a supertanker. Sometimes it takes a while to realise that the run with no wins has turned into an unbeaten run with a couple of victories. If that involves a couple of dire draws against “big” clubs with more resources, so be it. Fans rarely take a step back and see the bigger picture. www.footballwebpages.co.uk/national-league/form-guide

Can anyone explain the actions of security barring the Spanish Wizard from coming into the Genco yesterday ? Joan Luque is already a legend with supporters but not it seems with these jobsworths. He did manage it in the end, happily. So many stewards around the place plus police officers too. Just a few over 50 odd friendly enough and pretty quiet Maidenhead supporters given a massive part of the Genco to themselves. All very strange. Seems the club is wasting money it can't afford. Hardly helps connect the club with supporters. The club needs new energy driven management off the field to avoid this. Stop irritating the fans. I feel there is an absence of intelligence about fan/s which sensible brainpower would identify and properly implemented generate the funds we are denying ourselves at the moment. We need a pulse taker who identifies the problems and takes immediate action to rectify issues. Stop genuflecting to the bureaucrats and push back at their unreasonable demands.

The mystery is, if we can play like that against a nominally better team, why can't we do it against the rubbish ones? It's not because we're at home, it doesn't seem to have much to doo with the quality of the opposition - it doesn't even seem to have much to do with who's picked. In fact, it seems to be almost entirely random. Not necessarily random. Grindstone's theory is that the improvement was down to team selection, because we started with nine of last year's side, who were therefore comfortable with the system, and knew where to find a teammate.

Felt like the good old days. Ground buzzing and very happy supporters.
Football was fast and zippy, good movement, plenty of decent link up play.
Keep it up Stones. Can't win every week but Saturday was a real tonic.

Just seen the highlights (and they were highlights this week!).
Free kick? What the hell for?? Is it an offence to have someone back into you? It was a very well taken goal, but they should never have had the chance.
And, although Sandford played a blinder, their second goal was basically down to us tiring and losing concentration in the final moments. Good as Maidenhead are/were, that really should have been 3-0.
As for the eternal question - why like that this week, after the awful display last Saturday? I think Headstone has a point, when he points out that that was as near last year's team as we've managed recently (and we clearly were missing JBW), but my take is the old 'confidence' one - that early first goal made all the difference. We suddenly had that thing that's been mmissing all seson so far - belief in ourselves.
