With everyone having had at least one game this far, think it is fair to say the World Cup has yet to come to life. England were good enough in their 6-2 opener, Brazil looked the favourites they are in beating Serbia and Spain were efficient in dispatching Costa Rica. However, will admit that have only had games on as background, if at all. The only one that really made me sit up and watch was Japan's defeat of Germany. Hopefully, now games start by to have more meaning, things will liven up.

Fat chance! That was boring - not as bad as Maidstone last Saturday, but bad enough.

So, we beat a pretty poor Wales side and suddenly the pundits and press are saying England are marvellous. Yes, the team did well, but to suggest we are suddenly world beaters is more than a bit ott, methinks. It all gets a lot harder from now on.

I put a fiver on France to win the world cup again. I'm bored with it all soon as it finishes the better and don't care who wins it.💤💤

I've not only managed to miss all the games so far, I actually forgot we were playing yesterday! We spent the afternoon in London (watching our daughter play Lady Macbeth on the Globe stage!) and came home on the 7:29 train from LB. Apart from thinking the streets and train had been unusually quiet, I never realised there'd been an England game until I heard the news at 10!
Apart from the whole Qatar issue, not now being able to be knocked out on pens by Germany in the quarter finals has taken the edge off things. Being knocked out by France just isn't the same...

In the 15 minutes either side of half time, we were very good and no need to go mad after that. We remain unbeaten and obviously will need to carry on that way. France, Spain and presumably Brazil all need to be overcome to win the tournament and all have lost to lesser opponents already, so possible, but not worth getting excited about. For now, anyway.
