Maybe it just me, but I can't seem to get excited about it this time around?
Even the bloke across the road said to me "I was worried you might be not well,as you don't have the flags out like you normally do!"

Beat me to as was just thinking we could have a thread here. Guess I'll watch the England games (for now), but can't get excited overall and watching a bit of the lead up to today's game, easy to reflect that at least Hak's interviews are short!

Well that worked out quite well. Quite where ten minutes of added time in the second half came from, have no idea. Is 24+ minutes overall a record for a World Cup match? Never a penalty - or if it was, we should have had one early on too. As for the actual football, not sure I like all the tippy tappy stuff, but then all the time one side has the ball, it is not easy for the opposition to score...

World Cup 2022: Why is there so much stoppage time being added on? - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63710986The answer is above: a directive from FIFA to count EVERY bit of stoppage time, which is meaning games are lasting well over two hours, including the half time break. When you consider that the referee gave zero added time in the first half on Saturday, it makes you wonder - though in that case, the thought of enduring another 15 minutes of torture would have many more leaving before full time, methinks. Indeed, they could still be playing now and it would still be 0-0. Oldham, because they couldn't hit a cow's arse with and banjo and us because, well, we couldn't be arsed.☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

What a whining idiot. And why do commentators expect English viewers to give a toss about how the sheepshaggers do.

I actually use the BBC red button and watch the game but with radio five live commentary, obviously I can't do this on ITV, unless I turn the t.v volume onto mute and listen to radio five on dab

I was in two minds about all this. I'm not a great fan of international football, but usually watch the England games, but this year I don't really want to support any of it.
From bribary to slave labour, to a country where it's so hot that the tournament has to be played in winter, to all the civil rights stuff in Qatar - it just feels wrong to add my (limited) 'justification'.
And that feeling wasn't helped at all by the arm-band cowardice. The Germans make a stand, the Iranians risk at least the end of their careers, if not a lot worse - and the English? They just cave in. FFS, wear the arm bands if you believe in what they say. If you get a yellow, keep wearing them - how many does it take to get sent off before the whole farago is revealed as the farce it really is? Stand up to the Qatari bastards and the FIFA and FA cowards.
