Feels horribly déjà vu at the moment - 2016 all over again, only earlier in the season. I really hope I'm overreacting, because, after our last experience in the NL, I really didn't expect anything like this again. It's not just a bugdet issue - there are several clubs in the NL with smaller crowds than us (and less income). If they can survive and thrive, so too should we be able to. We haven't not survived yet - we're 11 games in. Do we know the details of the Beth situation? Really?

Odd one. We had a similar situation at a similar time in the season last year: October 9th to November 13th 2021: 6 games, 4 losses, 2 draws, 8 conceded, 2 scored. 2 points. (25th October - Under 23's manager Simon Austin leaves suddenly, suggesting budget and management were an issue) September 3rd 2022 to October 4th 2022: 6 games, 5 losses, 1 draw, 18 conceded, 8 scored. 1 point. (3rd October - Physio Beth leaves, suggestions point towards budget). You can take a couple of things away from those 2 situations I think: - We had a very bad patch last year and still won the league with 2 games to go. Things can be turned around.
- Whoever makes decisions, makes them at very bad times. It would never feel right to see Beth go, but during such an atrocious run it seems very naive.
- Do we know the structure of the club from a staff perspective? It feels like the club needs a dedicated Comms / Marketing person to handle external communications and fight fires. Since the end of last summer, announcements and updates have been intermittent to non-existent. I don't think we actually ever got confirmation that half our squad re-signed or a list of players who moved on.
A web site that actually updates us on news would be nice too. And one that is MUCH easier to navigate!

A website that was reasonably up to date would be a good start. As an example, the Football Staff page shows George as Captain, Beth as Sports Therapist, no mention of the Reserves or its Manager or Coach. Even if the club cannot provide Match Reports for the Reserves, why can it not provide some news and results?

Whatever way you look at it club communications have been poor for some time. As for Beth, she has posted on facebook and so has her mum. Her dismissal came suddenly and apparently without notice. She is not moaning but obviously disappointed. Seemingly just about making savings !

Well Beth has told us and I think if anyone knows the details it would be her do you not think. What did she say? that she was surprised? Not much else? I haven't really looked for it, I must be honest. I don't know the ins and outs of her agreement with the club so won't comment. Why do we have two commercial managers and no money coming in? Oh yeah one of them is Terry Casey's son in law wouldn't want his daughter to suffer her husband being out of work when you can sack a non family member like Beth. The situation stinks to high heaven.

My 2nd club Whitley Bay of the Northern League which is 4 divisions below us update their website and Facebook pages within minutes of any news occurring at the club,in depth reports on new players, players leaving, injuries plus all the info on the reserves side.If they can do it,and I know they have no money, then why can't we?

Communication with fans has been poor for quite a while now - like several years. The website is useless and apart from occasional blogs by Oliver (welcome though they are), all we get is scraps from the KM and car park rumours. Even Stoneslive seem out of the loop. Keeping fans on side is a key part of running a club. Am sure there would be plenty of volunteers willing to help and it would cost nothing.

Yet 4 people are credited with the Website (on the Club Officials page).

Football fans are generally very stupid. I can remember this time last season a group in the Elvis End were singing “you’re getting sacked in the morning” to the man who then took us up as champions. It’s sad if we can’t afford Beth’s wages, but no business can run at a loss. There is no magic money tree, no Saudi investors, it’s just us and some very careful custodians who have achieved miracles in the last ten years. If you’ve come here from a Premier League club, welcome. But we do things differently down here at our semi-pro club with just a couple of thousand fans.

When you look at our bench there does seem to be a lot of non-players mingling around.

I heard at end of August he was leaving in September so not sure its part of the same cost cutting but he has gone as far as I am aware

Talking of stupid football fans being vocal: some of the people who are so so angry at the unfair dismissal of Beth, are the same ones who were wolf whistling and shouting vulgar sexist bile at her from the stands less than a year ago whenever she stepped on the pitch. I'm sure those people have taken a long, hard look in the mirror in the year that's passed and donated generously to the donation page that has been set up for Beth.
