Could you expand on your comment that we'll need Hadler if we play 5 at the back? I'm not a footballer, so don't know the detail of how things work on the pitch, but is it as simple as three can manage themselves, but 5 will need someone behind them helping to sort them out? I take it that you're also assuming that Mersin doasn't, or wouldn't, do this? Tom has much more of a physical presence, clearly, and appears to be more 'involved' in the game than Mersin, but I don't remember hearing him shouting much last season - certainly not like Worgs! Of course! I was simply just acknowledging the fact that everyone’s main reason for having Hadler back in the side is his relationship and communication with the back 4 of last season. Mersin doesn’t typically communicate which is the reason most fans who don’t rate him would like him dropped. Therefore Hadler (being more familiar with the players who would feature in the back 5) could potentially help to organise them since we are unfamiliar with the formation😁. Just a theory, of course it’s all speculative! The communication and relationship between the keeper and his defence is vital. Add onto that much better distribution, much better kicking and at least a better command of the 6 yard box, it all adds up to quite a difference.

Sadly, Tom has not played a competitive match all season, so that better relationship etc, may take some finding.

Must be a different Joe Quigley. No way was the lumbering Joe I remember, nearly good enough for this Chesterfield team. Its the same carthorse, Nick. Since leaving us (without a goal to his name ?) he has gone to Bromley, Eastbourne, Dag and Red, Yeovil and now Chesterfield ! In demand or moved on frequently ?! 😂

Just checked out Joe Quigley's CV before going to the match.
In the past few season's including loan spells he has played for:
Bournemouth (under 23's) Poole Torquay Wrexham Woking Gillingham Newport Boreham Wood Stones Bomley Eastbourne Havant and Waterlooville Dagenham Billericay Yeovil Chesterfield
Well travelled for a 26 year old, never stays very long !

Hadler starts. No pressure for him and his fan club.

Haddler! Let's hope he lives up to people's hopes.
Pretty good turnout by the looks of it - Chesterfield end pretty full - and very noisy! The bouncers are going to have their work cut out today.
Lambs to the slaughter? Let's hope not.

What a difference! We've actually had most of the pressure for the first half, and I've lost track of our goal attempts.
Att 2637!

We seem to have forgotten how to score though - we missed a real sitter, and there were a couple of others that would have gone in last season.
Chesterfield look dangerous on the attack, but not that dangerous. We need to keep playing at this tempo though - if we let them through they will score. Can we keep this up for 90 minutes+?
