Not hopeful at all. We're not defending well, Hak has got stuck in a rut with his keeper selection, midfield not doing their job properly and upfront not creating much and scoring goals looking unlikely. So no good reason to be optimistic.

Downbeat, depressing and realistic.

I'm going for a pie and chips meal deal, don't give a stuff about the final score as long as the boys turn up and try

More than a hint or realism in the review. Predicting a defeat is the sensible, properly thought out conclusion. In truth we could have easily dropped points in 2 of the matches won this season.. But the manner of some of our defeats has been poor. If we have to lose, lets do it with pride and passion, not like some of those limp performances seen too often.

Probably looking at a narrow defeat tomorrow. Wonder if Hak will give Mersin another vote of confidence after his poor show at Bromley

I'm not a footballer, so don't know the detail of how things work on the pitch, but is it as simple as three can manage themselves, but 5 will need someone behind them helping to sort them out? I take it that you're also assuming that Mersin doasn't, or wouldn't, do this? Tom has much more of a physical presence, clearly, and appears to be more 'involved' in the game than Mersin, but I don't remember hearing him shouting much last season - certainly not like Worgs!

Of course! I was simply just acknowledging the fact that everyone’s main reason for having Hadler back in the side is his relationship and communication with the back 4 of last season. Mersin doesn’t typically communicate which is the reason most fans who don’t rate him would like him dropped. Therefore Hadler (being more familiar with the players who would feature in the back 5) could potentially help to organise them since we are unfamiliar with the formation😁. Just a theory, of course it’s all speculative!

Just a theory, of course it’s all speculative! I wiuld go along with your theory there too, for me it also depends on who your defenders are and how vocal they tend to be. I think Gav is sometimes a bit too quiet to be captain, it can add pressure to someone’s game too as it can distract them from their own duties if they’re also trying to think about what others should be doing and where others need to be etc. It can take some time to ‘learn’ a captain’s role, depending on the individual and their personality. George was a very good captain, his all round experience and character gave him a perfect platform to organise others. The goalkeeper of course has the advantage of seeing everyone in front of him rather than a defender who has to be looking across the back line. COYS !

Joe Quigley plays for Chesterfield nowadays, I’m hoping he starts and is his usual lazy, slow, lumbering self.

Must be a different Joe Quigley.
No way was the lumbering Joe I remember, nearly good enough for this Chesterfield team.

With Joe Ellul and Tom Hadler back in the side I would feel more hopeful about today's match.
