At least we have drawn a team leagues lower than us! Bit of a trek, but am sure the ground tickers will be pleased.

Interesting to see what team we can get out. We will want to go through but we will also want to manage the work load. Hopefully some of the longer term injured might be after a run out

I remember the trip well, during Dave Mathews short time as coach organiser, the sign he made said ‘trip to Suffork’ We took some likely lads left over from the 70/80s, complete with Harringtons Levi’s and DMs, but we’re no trouble most didn’t leave the bar!

Seem to recall Dartford had some trouble in their bar last season, after being knocked out of the trophy.

Needham is one of those tiny places whereby it’s difficult to fathom how they can have a relatively successful senior football club. The population is only around 4,500. Last time I went there was to play against their cricket club, whilst on tour with East Peckham. Nice little place.

If finances are tight then a win on Saturday will help...
Fourth round qualifying winners (32) £9,375 Fourth round qualifying losers (32) £3,125
In the next round there is no losers money so just a share of the gate money...
First round proper winners (40) £41,000

Err, what? If they had a game on the Thursday I'd understand but Saturday / Tuesday schedules are the norm in football at any level. Just gives them a Tuesday night off to sit at home, biscuit in hand, contemplating getting pummelled by Maidstone.

We had Tuesday off too... 😀😀 Off but not postponed. In all fairness, teams playing in big European ties often get their games postponed by their league so they can fully prepare - in terms of money and the competition, this really is as big as it gets in a cup for a team at that level (as we well know with our past games away at MK Dons, Rochdale, etc.)

Just checked the odds for tomorrow's game and the Stones are 5/4 favourites but only just as Needham with home advantage are 8/5 with the draw 13/5. This tells me that the bookies are not overly convinced we will progress to the 1st round proper.

Beckenham Town Vs Dagenham & Redbridge
Bromley Vs Hereford
Ebbsfleet Vs Sevenoaks
Merthyr Town Vs Folkestone Invicta
Needham Market Vs Maidstone United
The only other Kent side to be added is Gillingham in the next round.
