Scary stuff, but Bernie's insider knowledge makes more sense in explaining Hadler's absence that anything else I have heard.

Wonder if swordy has the bookies odds on Hadler being selected to start against Bromley ?

This thread reminds me of a TV series 'The Simpsons' for obvious reasons.
That's been running since 1989 and its still going strong.

I think parky is missing the point. There has not been a single post declaring how well the defence has played this season. Plenty of supporters have been puzzled why Tom Hadler has been relegated to the bench without a competitive game being played. The reaction would have been just the same as if players like Corne or Ellul were suddenly out of favour. Fair point, forums are typically more reserved compared to Facebook. Dogs abuse and the sole blame is put on mersin a lot and it annoys me. Do agree that it’s odd that Hadler just vanished, but i suppose with keepers you can’t switch between as often as you can a defender or midfielder as their role is quite exclusive. My previous comment was a bit tongue in cheek also

We do leak too many goals but def not the fault of Mersin. As a shot-stopper he is very decent and imo 'at least' as good as Hadler and maybe a shade better. But Tom does come over as a more confident character, with better communication and distributions skills. The debate rages on but my hunch is that Tom Hadler will get plenty of games this season.

I'm sure he will, and I hope when he does he makes the shirt his own. I know I always argue in favour of Mersin, but that's nothing against Tom, it's simply because I can't see what Mersin has done wrong to turn so many people against him. Tom may or may not be a better keeper, although I personally don't think there's much to choose between them, but what managers don't do is drop players in form. Unfortunately for Tom that means an extended sojourn on the bench as keepers don't have the luxury of alternative positions. He just needs to stay fit and focused and grab his chance with both hands when it comes.

Tom is a crowd pleaser. The kind of keeper who would munch on a meat and potato pie during an FA cup third round tie against Liverpool while smoking a fag just for shits and giggles. Yusuf is so serious and boring he probably likes nothing better than to curl up every evening watching Coronation Street with a nice cup of cocoa. They make a great pair, but only one can be chosen.

And that says more about you than it does Mersin. Just because a player doesn't jump up and down and pump their chest or jump into the fans after a win or save/goal doesn't mean that they are any less of a player. Stuart Lewis got all the fans up on their feet with the chest pumping etc but Reece Prestedge was the one who made the impact to the quality of the team covering the back four (A position that many fans are crying out we improve on at present). Jack Paxman was beloved by some of our fans, but he had no idea of how to play 11 a side football, still can't read the game of football, yet he was a character so our fans loved him

I think Bernie's post required a semblance of a sense of humour in order for it to be appreciated.
