Sword2 I don't disagree that our defense has been poor. What I disagree with is people claiming it would have been better with Hadler in goal. Clearly with no left back and half the defence playing out of position we have struggled, so indirectly it is due to JBW's absence. We got a new left back against Wealdstone and suddenly with Hoyte and Fowler back in their right positions we looked a lot more solid, and with more experienced cover for Joe we would have been even better. Both the cbs we've tried there have had issues so the sooner Joe's back the better. Right that's it!!!!!! Dave u has spoke , will the rest just agree so we can end this thread. Thankx What is it about my post you object to. Is it purely that you disagree. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but some people just don't seem to get it. Wouldn't be much of a forum if we all agreed all the time.

Really hope Hadler comes back and we just concede 5 to Bromley just to prove a point that it really doesn't matter who plays in goal if your defence is playing as poorly as it has at times this season

As for your wish, I'd rather see "Really hope Hadler comes back and we win most of our games and finish in the playoffs just to prove a point that managers can and very often do get things wrong"

I think parky is missing the point. There has not been a single post declaring how well the defence has played this season. Plenty of supporters have been puzzled why Tom Hadler has been relegated to the bench without a competitive game being played. The reaction would have been just the same as if players like Corne or Ellul were suddenly out of favour.

You've hit the nail on the head Rob.
It's a puzzle, that's what it is.

I am finding this thread fascinating in so many ways.
Another unsolved puzzle is why Mersin plays better when defending the Town End goal when Hadler is obviously better at the Genco End.
Hak please note !

I'm predicting that Mersin will be selected for the Bromley match, adding another important piece to the puzzle.

It seems like the keeper selection drama is likely to remain a puzzle.

I thought you were meant to be able to solve puzzles and then put them away for another rainy day. But this puzzle seems to have parts missing and people have different ideas as to how it should be put together. Pieces missing or don't fit, it just doesn't go together well. And so the puzzle goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on - - - - - -

The reaction would have been just the same as if players like Corne or Ellul were suddenly out of favour. I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're right. Although, in Hak's defence, it's more akin to players like Pattisson (last season) or Odusanya, Walters, Alabi, Ghandour and Gurung, not getting regular starts after impressing. It's Hak's choice, based on what he sees/thinks, even if it's a puzzle to some of us. It's what he's paid to do, after all. What makes it frustrating for some is the difference between goalkeeper and outfield players - you only usually have two to choose from, long runs seem to be the norm, and managers don't tend to sub them during games. With outfield players, we at least get the occasional chance to see them prove themselves, whereas, whoever's not in goal tends to stay on the bench for a long time. I would be surprised if it's anything more than that. And Hak is probably rather puzzled that this issue causes so much angst amongst supporters.

My aunt’s friend’s brother’s wife’s hairdresser told me every time someone on the forum demands to know why Hadler hasn’t been picked, Hakan delays his comeback another week just out of spite. Tom is currently due to make his comeback in January 2025.
