Have it from a source close to Michael that he wants to come back to the Stones. It was discussed after Wrexham loss and Barnet boss is happy for Michael to come back on loan. Just need the Stones to make it happen apparently.

I guess it may all be about money. Michael is popular with the management, the players and the supporters, bar a very few. He needs to earn a few quid and his Barnet deal was def more favourable than what Stones could offer. But can a loan deal be negotiated ? Stranger things have happened.

Casting my mind back to the end of last season, seem to remember that Michael Phillips featured on several posts as a player Hak might offload as, though he was in everybody's team, he was a long way from being first choice. I will confess to being someone who thought he might not be up the NLP, but if fit, we could do with someone of his type in midfield. Likewise a left back and centre back. Trouble is, are any of them available, can we afford them and do they want to come here? Add in whether they are any good or not and if they fit in with the team ethic and it is no wonder Hak is finding recruitment difficult.

I’d rather have someone better and stronger and more destructive.
When was the last time we bought a player? Or at least convinced someone to join who was wanted at their club? Maybe Sol and I am sure there are some but we seem to take other teams cast-offs and releases.
If we take MP back then he will be a fine addition to the squad

It should always be about upgrades. Do we consider that MP would be an upgrade on the players he might replace such as Henry Woods?

Bringing him in was a mistake. The Dover fans didn't rate him - it's not as if he was a good player trying his best in a poor side down there. I'm not sure what made Hak sign him, other than the old chestnut - budget constraints. He was easy to sign, and probably didn't expect a high wage. The only worry about Phillips of course, is discipline - good when he's on the pitch but not much use if he keeps getting sent off / yellow cards / suspensions.

Having not really seen much of or from Henry, I'd have to go with the "better the devil you know" approach, and say I'd take MP. That's not to say it is the right long-term approach. I am struggling to get a good view on Henry Woods. He made a few appearances, either being subbed by or for Dom, and you assume it's one or the other of them. I'd say Dom had a good impact on the York game and Henry had a shocking impact on the Dorking game! He was as bad as everyone else against Wrexham and was lost in a sea of awfulness. No one player could have made that midfield look good and since then he has been an unused sub and didn't even make the last bench. He could be injured but I reckon he is being touted around the NLS for a loan (sorry if I am wrong and you are reading this Henry) whilst we look for "men". A young Reece Prestege ideally to play alongside Booty. So in summary to answer your original question, Phillips > Woods but hopefully A New Player> Phillips

I think he looks more 'trouble' than he is. We've had a few players like that - Jai Reason always looked like he was about to hit someone! I don't actually remember MP being booked too much last season - was he sent off?

I can't remember one red card or suspension.

Any midfielder doing their job is going to get booked a few times.
Come to think of it, the last few games seemed to be very low on bookings - maybe that's an indication that our midfield isn't doing its job?

We need a Stuart Lewis or Reece Prestedge, something Henry Woods isn't close to being.

I seem to remember Stu used to get booked plenty. It goes with the territory

Our new signings were meant to strengthen the squad Is anybody convinced ? It's what you get for signing Gills castoffs.Woods wasn't good enough to get into a team who technically are only 15 places above us in the pyramid.
