We will be there - staying Saturday night somewhere in town and looking forward to seeing Andy Fairweather-Low at the Sage after the match, and a visit to the Biscuit Factory and the Flour Mill with some good walking around on Sunday. A win would be brilliant - icing on a very nice cake. COYS!!

I'm going, travelling up to Glasgow on Friday by plane, spending the day there, then traveling down to Newcastle by train in the evening. Meeting up with old Geordie mates after the game, then coming home by train on Sunday. Although I bought my ticket to the game online, I never got an email confirmation or a ticket in the post. Everytime I email Gateshead the email just sits in a queue and does not send You take care in Glasgow its a rough old place Pussycats😁

I remember back in 2008, getting the national express from maidstone to Victoria coach station, then an easybus mini bus for £2 from across the road to Gatwick We've just spent a few days away and it's only when you see towns full of shops and with good travel limks to everywhere that you realise what an awful backwater Maidstone is. Ironically, when we moved down 40+ years ago, one of the reasons we chose Maidstone was that it had three railways stations!

A bit of a cheat there,as Maidstone barracks are on the same line as Maidstone west, but forms a good transfer link with Maidstone east. I checked my emails on an actual computer, not my mobile and there they were all sitting there! It seems they were not all coming through to my phone, very strange!

In theory, you could go cross-country, via Tonbridge and Redhill (only £22 and slightly quicker), but there's only one combination of trains a day where this works, and it's a lot of faffing about. Years ago there used to be a Sunday only service from MW that did this route directly (reversing at Redhill). We often used to use this, as it was pretty much door-to-door for us, and was so much easier and cheaper than going via Victoria. But we were often the only people on the train, so it was no surprise when they stopped running it. It used to baffle me why they didn't run this during the week and advertise it. When you think of the cost of getting a taxi or parking at Gatwick, it was a no brainer. But, alas it is no more. I just remembered, flew back to Gatwick south Terminal from a holiday in Canada, and got off an eight hour red eye from Ottawa at 7am on a weekday. The taxi I had booked was not there as they had gone the flight numbers mixed up,so I thought "sod it! We will make our own way home! I remember having to lug two suitcases with my 75 year old mum in tow on a train from Gatwick to Redhill, then Redhill to Tonbridge, then Tonbridge to paddock wood and then finally paddock wood to Maidstone west, then a taxi to bearsted!

After getting to Gatwick airport at 6am yesterday and Getting pulled over by security because I put my inhaler in the tray next to the bag with my toiletries in and not actually in the plastic bag with them, I settled down for a pint of Heineken and double Jamesons and diet coke, which cost me £23!
Had a nice flight to Glasgow and got talking to a celtic fan who could not believe the route I was taken to see the Gateshead game! He took me and an English couple into his local and bought us all a welcome drink. The couple are doing a charity climb up two mountains in Scotland and ond in Wales in 24 hours! After several pints of heavies are scotch chasers, the coulple left and half an hour later the Scotsman said "I cannee keep up with you!" Bought me another drink and left . I had a little wander around the city, ate in the hard rock cafe and then got a train to Edinburgh, where I sampled the local vinos then got my train to Newcastle. Arrived at 9.30pm and bypassed the hotel bar as I was shattered!
I'm off out in a minute to have a look around, then off to the game This afternoon.
C.o.y.s!!!
