Yes we got 6 points which is great, but the value of history is not simply about seeing the bottom line.
Hak will learn from the experience and can be expected to address those defensive frailties that were visible enough.

Just watched them (in proper quality!). The first half didn't strike me as being as loose at the back as the comments suggested, but there were some bloody hairy moments! Aldershot must be kicking themselves for some of those misses. Although, as usual, Mersin did a fantastic job. But, once again, a different second half (although not as noticeably different as the Torquay game). That five minutes must have been an absolute joy to watch live! OK Amerluzer spoilt the party a bit, but that was just individual brilliance, not a team effort. Even after that, Aldershot didn't look seriously like fighting back. All in all (without ignoring the obvious problems we've still got in defence) a great game and an excellent result. When you consider we were away, it was our second game in two days, and we were without one of our main playmakers, this was a fantastic result. OK, Torquay and Aldershot were always going to be games we'd be hoping to win, but let's not belittle ourselve with that. With some of the games we've got coming up and the sheer length and intensity of this season, we needed those six points in the bank. And that's exactly where they are - thanks to the skills and determination of the players and the magic that Hak and Terry do.

Four great goals and the usual immaculate distribution from Booty. Rode our luck a bit at times and though not sure about some of the ref's decisions, at least he was consistent and that is the minimum all teams should expect. As for our defence, yes there were some scary moments, but they all seem to stem from losing the ball well up the field and not closing things down well enough in the middle third. Some great last ditch tackles from our back four, while Aldershot were poor for all three of our goals.

I'm not entirely convinced by all the worries about the defense. All teams concede chances, all teams make mistakes, and no team takes every chance that comes their way. I haven't watched the Wrexham highlights yet, but every other team we've played has looked fragile at times. If we don't make the odd mistake or concede a few chances, the opposition aren't doing their job properly.

Apart from his love of all things American, I think daveu's lack of conviction is blurred by those amber tinted specs.
Can't prove it one way or another, but imo the defence is looking too leaky and hoping that Hak can sort it.

Autocorrect ?
Bit of a lame excuse ! And yes, the defence isn't quite fully functioning at present.
In need of a little tweaking before we face quality National League strikers again imo.
Don't claim to know the answers but I'm guessing that Hak and Terry do.

Guess that’s what the Wrexham manager meant. I’d rather miss relegation by one point playing “cavalier” football, than scrape into the playoffs with dull 0-0 draws and 1-0 wins. Whatever happens this season, nobody can claim they’re not getting good value for £19.

I thought Monday was the first game the defence looked somewhat settled - Ellul had their big number 9 in his pocket (mostly, anyway), Hoyte was his usual 8 out of 10, Fowler again covered well at RB and even Cawley, who I've not been a fan of up until this point, worked hard and had a relatively 'gaff free' afternoon.
It was a solid performance. Can't say anyone didn't put in a shift, but I personally thought Fawole had a great game. Maybe not MOTM level (Ellul or Booty for me) but he was an absolute handful the entire game and worked so so hard. Very impressive. Also, props to Garung for a very competitive performance - definitely did not look out of his depth and you could tell the team were happy for him to get his goal. Lovely stuff.
Any idea where Ghandour is? Also hoping Wanjau Smith isn't far off a return but then we'll have a headache - Wanjau-Smith, Ghandour, Fawole, Pattison, Deacon all fit at the same time and all shone at different points either in pre-season or the first few weeks of the season.

Although I have still yet to see us play, relying on highlights I think I can say that the defence is taking its time to settle down but only conceding 1 goal in the last 2 us a good return in my book. The one thing you must remember, and some people obviously are not,is that we are playing against much better players this year, faster, stronger, fitter and more skillfully and the defence, well the whole team really, needs time to adjust. After 2 heavy defeats our comeback has been great which shows the will to win is still there. They will get used to the added pace but, like most teams in this league, will have bad days and take a tanking. If someone had offered me 10 pts from 6 games I would have bitten there hand off even if we'd only scored 4 goals and let in 20.We are 20 % of the way to safety having played just 13%of the games.
