Just seen an interview with Beth and she said he had Covid when he was booked in for his op and is about a month behind with his treatment. Realistically not back until February.

That a shame. A long lay off. Back just in time for the playoff push.
Hopefully he will recover in full and continue the good work of last season.

The news on BJW and Raphe Brown is not encouraging either

The Raphe Brown news is really not surprising, he's been constantly injured since we signed him. Giving him a new contract this summer was a strange decision to say the least.

Even if he does return in February, the bulk of the season will be over. We are effectively going to have to do this without Luque. But I suspect Hak has planned for this contingency and built the squad to manage without him. And, judging from the first two games, he's got it right.

I dont see why we would send him out on loan though, just bring him back in gradually. He was/is our best player, you don't loan them out. If he went out on loan, the team he was loaned to would just throw him in and hope he performs. If he gets injured again, they wont care. We need to bring him in slowly in a controlled way.
Don't loan him out Hak.

Don't loan him out Hak. We wouldn’t be able to play him unless he was fully match fit - you can’t get away with any passengers. He would probably need to play some games, either u23 or out of loan in a lower league. If he went out on loan he would likely still train with us. I am sure, if he has a very successful recovery, we’d rather keep him within the club

We were discussing this today after the game, and someone suggested that Luque's injury might even had been a bit of luck for us.
There must have been a lot of interest in him from richer and higher league clubs after last season, but presumably no one was interested enough to take the chance on him recovering fully and/or being available for most of the season.
The way things have turned out, he is much more likely to still be playing for us next season, and by then we might be in a much better position to hold on to him if suiters come calling.

Do we have a bit of a winger's curse? Flisher, Loza and now Luque? Let's hope Joan can break it by coming back stronger - the other two were never quite the same.

Flish played more centrally after his injury as I recall. Did ok as a striker in NS but didn't really step up when we were promoted and left when we went to daytime training.

It was the 'final' injury (Torquay away in our first NL season) that did for Flish. Although, even then he was a fantastic sub - as an opposition, not someone you want to see charging onto the pitch when you're 70 minutes into a game! He actually looked pretty good in Bill's testimonial, as well. Not the old 'do or die' Flish, of course (and certainly not in a friendly!), but still a perfectly decent footballer. Does he still play? I thought he'd retired, so I was surprised to see how well he looked.

Google or his social media pages aren't very helpful either...
