Listened to the commentary last night (thanks as always to the Stones Live! guys for their efforts) and it sounded like we defended very well. I gave George some stick on here for his mistakes on Saturday, so fair play to him for showing the character to come back and turn in a good performance in the next match. He doesn't need the likes of me to tell him what happened against Dorking simply wasn't good enough. Now all we need is to bloody score! And George looked fitter which brings back my question, is it the 3G pitch that is the problem ?

Having watched the highlights from Saturday both goals were scored with Big George marking both goal scorers. I’m starting to think that he is living off past glories and it’s time to move on from him. I’ve no doubt being club Captain will see him through till at least the end of the season, but I believe our defensive frailty is more down to him than is really spoken about often enough. We shall see how we cope on Saturday without him!
My back four for Saturday if Hoyte is fit would be…
Brown Binnom-Williams Fowler Hoyte
Without Hoyte fit..
Brown Binnom-Williams Curren Fowler

Binnom-Williams did not play last night because of injury said Hakan. So he may not be available for Saturday?

Brown Binnom-Williams Curren Fowler I don't think George is a bad player by any means. Not marking his man tight enough isn't down to age or fitness - it's simply a lack of concentration. The second goal last Saturday was especially poor as he got goal side of the striker but left him far too much room to turn and shoot. It's not advanced stuff - it's basics. You can see on the video from George's reaction when the guy scored that he knew he'd messed up. They say you're only as good as your last game; he played well last night so let's give him a break and not dwell too much on the game before last. What we need now from him and others is consistency so let's see how they all do in the next match.

Having just watched the highlights, certainly appears I didn't miss much by not going. That said, there were a couple of tackles, by Gallagher and Corne which certainly merited their yellow cards and maybe worse. There again, it is almost as if the game didn't happen as reports have not been posted on the club website, Kent online or even today's KM.

As someone based overseas living in an open prison without being able to travel I do despair at the obvious deterioration of the official website. I presume it is being run by volunteers as the fixtures are now just on a sticky post (no result updates), the league table is a link to the ever reliable 😆 footballwebpages (not the NL official site), no player profiles, weekend roundup has no link to the league tables, minimal information on the U23's and women's and as mentioned above a lack of 1st team match reports. The funniest one noted recently was the 90's brit-pop evening post that did not give any start time (so was it straight after the game or starting at midnight?). Obviously the volunteer articles are not even going through any sub-editing. I realise times might be hard but it should not beyond MUFC to employ at least one professional to co-ordinate media even if it is only a part-time basis. Good media coverage is how you pull us exiles back into the fold.

I agree, if you cut costs in areas where you have the chance to market the club and potentially attract new supporters, it can be a false economy. Also, if you don't change it regularly, search engines lose interest and it will plummet down search results for local football clubs. They need to pay someone like Fred Atkins a few quid to freshen it up every week. Money well spent.

I thought I saw a few years ago that the site was run by an external party? The outside agency created a template for the site that was adopted by Maidstone and a lot of other non-league clubs as part of an overall agreement.
Whether that's still the case I don't know, but the quality of the site has dropped enormously, as has the coverage of the club as well I think - it wasn't long ago that every Friday there would be a 15 minute video featuring the manager and the players which was really good.

That is probably correct but they won't be updating the news, squad info etc. the club will have a log-in to a template they can use to easily update those areas without a great deal of computer knowledge.

I will speak to Ian Tucker tomorrow and find out why the website is not being refreshed as often as 2 years ago.

All very valid points. I should imagine the Covid pandemic is the cause. Having a club was probably the aim and something had to give. There are only a few areas that savings can be made. Less staff on match days - we’d moan, a smaller less quality squad - we’d moan and vote with our feet.

Not just the club though - the KM clearly didn't send a reporter either. A bit odd given it was fairly local. Maybe they were short staffed too?

Craig tucker is also a Stones supporter (Ian's brother I think), if he can't make the game we don't get a report. The KM no longer has enough reporters to cover Kent football other than Gillingham. If you don't have a fan who's a reporter you've got no chance.
