Oof, the whole Akanbi situation sounds bitter. Don't think he'll be a huge loss but obviously would have filled a gap in the current situation. Bets on where he'll end up?

I liked Ibby Akambi but I think he did look a little heavy when he came back from injury.
I can see the clubs approach and maybe Ibby took it the wrong way - who knows.
I think there is a good player in there and I hope he can reach his full potential somewhere else.
We need to bring in another striker. It's a shame we have lost Rendell.

Hope it works out for him, but personally very surprised he's gone up a league rather than being forced to stay in the NS.

Strikers are hard to get hold of, As Hak said in that KO article and many clubs above us tightening their belts. Akanbi is a good striker, he needs shaping up but he showed in flashes pre-season that he knows where the goal is. Cash-strapped sides in the divisions above will take a chance on forwards like this on their tight budgets - same reason Motherwell signed Amaluzor. Shame we didn't bring Greenhalgh back - still only 29 and signed for Margate, scored a hat-trick the other day. Once you miss out on these guys, that's it, they're gone.

If we had signed Ben, then I would begin to ask if Hak had lost the plot. As it stands our pre season luck so far has been all bad. Lacking strikers through injury, matches cancelled, and quite a few players not fit, it ain't looking great. Still nws thinks we will stroll this league, so maybe he's in the know. Perhaps it looks better from the inside.

Khan and now Akanbi. Decent players with potential but plenty still to prove. Will observe their progress with interest

Akanbi has been offered a contract with a National League club and Greenhaigh with an Ishmian club in as God forsaken destination. Says it all really.

No strikers, add this to the number of players we signed who have missed great chunks of previous seasons through injury and what looked a good squad suddenly looks shaky. Methinks the start of the season just got a wee bit tougher.

No question Margate seriously competes for a position as arse end of the Universe. But it does have a good football manager.

Akanbi or Greenhaigh ? Ibby for me every time, still plenty to prove, but he's young enough. Ben on the other hand is a decent footballer but he won't be getting any better.

I still think we will regret letting the other Ibby go to Tonbridge. It will be interesting to see at the end of the season who scores most, Ibby or Pavey. It looks as if Akembi may have had an indication that he might get a better deal with Dagenham when he turned us down, shame though as I thought he was our best forward. We must now hope that Hak can sign a good loan forward to tide us over. If Harry Kane does not want to train with Spurs perhaps he could keep fit playing for us?
