Sometimes you lose a major tournament on penalties. Sometimes you win promotion to the National League.

Typical behaviour by our adorable England First supporters. Beating up stewards to get into the stadium. Abusing Italian fans and mocking their national anthem Leaving puke and rubbish everywhere. Racially abusing our own players after the match. Some things will never change.

While Italy have been the best team, the fact they won both the semi final and final in penalty shoot outs ought to raise the question of how to find a better way. And not because we are crap at them. Does anybody like them? Golden goals, silver goals, dribble from the halfway line? Personally, would much rather lose a game on the pitch than a shoot out. Maybe extra time could be divided into sub sections, with each team removing a player every five minutes? Alternatively, no goal keepers allowed, or introduce a second ball, then a third, until someone scores? Got to be a better way ...

We should have pressed home our advantage and tried harder for a second after taking the lead. The Italians looked shell-shocked and were arguing, with Mancini also having fits on the touchline for the next 20 odd minutes. I think if we'd pushed hard enough at that point they might have fallen over. Gareth's cautious approach was bound to backfire at some point, and given the Italian's quality going forward it was likely to be in this match. Second half we created absolutely nothing. I would have brought on at least two subs much eariler than we did to try and get some attacking momentum going again.
hey ho, I suppose we're all armchair experts. At least we made the final.

Safegate set up the second half to defend a 1-0 lead,a disastrous decision that cost us the trophy, he should be hung, drawn and quartered🤬 Personally, I don't worry about this. Its just a game and I can't affect the result. More important things to worry about than this.

Golden goal certainly doesn't work - the feeling of losing everything because of a mistake or a bit of gamesmanship, and having no chance to undo it, is just horrible - far worse than losing on pens. Perhaps we should just declare a draw and recognise the fact that the two teams were as good (bad) as each other?

I've never been that interested in international football (probably a good thing, all things considered!), but like everyone else I got caught up in all the hype. But the behaviour of the 'fans' and especially the racism, has left me not wanting to have anything to do with it again. The atmosphere around Brexit has allowed people to behave in a way we've spent decades trying to get away from. I honestly thought we'd moved on as a nation, but here we are again, right back in the 70s. Right now, I'm not in the least proud to be English.

Nationality is just a tool to divide people. Brexit and the resulting actions of this racist government prove that.

Even those of us who didn't want it recognise that we have to work with it now. Your continuing obsession with it can't be good for your well-being.

I know 2.5 lines is a lot for you Dave but my point was about nationality. One point... If brexit is done and dusted why are we now engaged in screaming about renegotiating a deal we said was excellent 6 months ago? Not obsession just observing.
