And round the corner from a pub with a “troubled” recent history.

Reminds me of the Albion (Bin) of days gone by. Very dodgy reputation, and was always changing managers. One even staged a break-in, where the 'thieves' tied him up and left in the cellar. It can't have been a very good job though, as the police sussed it out pretty much straight away. Surprised a pub in Otham is dodgy though, I don't know that area, but I thought it was quite posh? Too near Shepway/Parkwood, perhaps...

I attended the K Sports match last night. First thing to say was that it was played without any rain during the match whatsoever quite incredibly. There was also a terrific rainbow. That maybe was one of the big highlights.
There were about 150 hardy souls in attendance and the game seemed very flat for the first half. Very little in any form of control or tempo with each side carving out a couple of half chances each. Our boys looked quite nervous for some inexplicable reason. Balls were bouncing off them with little sign of ability. The best player on the park seemed to be K Sports 24 who battled, harried and cajoled with great effect throughout the match. Couldn’t quite work out why, but the ball seemed to be bouncing very high making it difficult to get to grips with. Very little stood out for me during that first half apart from honest endeavour.
Second half started at a much faster pace with the Stones really dominating but always with the prospect of that quick break on a bouncy surface. A couple of early yellow cards would in the end become of great significance. One went to our 11 for a simple untuned challenge perhaps not worthy of it but hey ho. He subsequently received a second yellow for a bit of petulance on throwing the ball away after not getting a throw in. By that time we were one up with a half decent break out straight through the heart of their defence with the two defenders more intent on fouling our forward. Neither succeeded and our boy lobbed the out rushing keeper from the 18 yard line. Before then we quite possibly could have had a penalty but it was given just outside.
I would not say we were then dominant but we did enjoy quite good success with a few runs on either flank but it all fizzled out without too much danger. The K Spirts goal was well taken but it all came about because we could not get a telling tackle or block in on our left back area. A K Spirts player twisted and turned and out in a super little cross into the 6 yard box which their player did well to flick with the outside of his foot into the corner of the goal. He was pretty much unchallenged but made good space for himself. A poor goal to concede as we had plenty of chances to get rid or block.
Played in fairly good spirit albeit a bit feisty at times. If you could score games as a statistic I would at we deserved to win 1.5-1. But not enough shown up top to really deserve much more out of the game.
Sorry. Realise this is not really a football match report as such. More of a status report on how things went Also apologies if spell check has gone berserk on this.
Looking forward to Thursday now. So good to see a competitive match in the flesh. Onwards and upwards.
