As for the 12th man thing - I agree. It's fine when the Elvis End are singing, but all too often all the players can hear is people moaning when a pass goes wrong, or a goal is missed, or a corner/free-kick bollocked up. Or, worse still, some fat (they always are) bigmouth in row G singling out a player and slagging him off every time he comes over to that side of the pitch. And we almost never seem to be able to support the team vocally when things are going badly, and they need the '12th man'. Wouldn't it be great if the EE could make all that noise when we were 2 down? A very true post this one, the level of ( positive ) engagement that the Main Stand in particular has ( well. pre covid had ) is negligible, people should put down the 'phones and support the team from the off. Makes me laugh when our programme notes praise the contribution of the crowd, some of the crowd yes, all of the crowd most definitely no.

The fact we’re watching what looks like a pre season friendly on a small screen, seems to be reflected in the comments here.
I also wonder how many are watching. Oliver was hoping for 1000. Havant managed 1200, some of which would have been us. Are we in danger of losing fans during lockdown?

I was wondering just this. Could it be that teams play better without the pressure of the home crowd? It doesn't seem plausable, but then we've never known anything but having crowds, so we don't really know. I bloody hope not - I enjoy going to football! As for the 12th man thing - I agree. Oh I see your on about since we moved to the Gallagher and not when we played during the wilderness years,I keep forgetting that 1600 of our crowd couldnt be bothered to watch us for 20 years. [br Bit unfair Mr Sword about "couldn't be bothered" How does 'not being born' rank as an excuse ?

My generalisation is a little unfair but my anger/dismay are at many supporters who changed their allegiances and chose to watch any other club, including the Gillscum, instead of supporting us through the bad times and then when we returned to the town they have the audacity to call themselves life long supporters of Maidstone United. They make my blood boil.🤬

Just watched Hak's interview on YouTube, where for some reason I have the subtitles on. According to them, that was a good performance against hello hamster, but next up are Chelsea...

Just tried that myself. Looks like we were variously up against Wimble, Wimbledon or Winbourne on Tuesday and apparently Scotland missed a penalty against whichever one it was.

WTF Sword, have you turned into nwhb?? You know perfectly well what I meant. A crowd is still a crowd, even if it's 25 fans, just a small crowd - the players are playing in front of a paying audience, not just for themselves. And I'm sure some of those small crowds in the Wilderness Years made a lot more noise than the much bigger ones these days! If you're having a pop at me for not following the Stones during that time, them OK, guilty as charged. But that was my choice. I respect the faithful few who did stay with the club, but for me MUFC died when the old club went bust. I had followed the Stones, home and away for 12 years, but Invicta playing on the resrves pitch just wasn't my club. I didn't watch any football at all for years, but was then tempted back to UP. I followed the Stones progress, but had no desire at all to watch the team. When they came back home, I reluctantly went along to see what it was like, and was hooked all over again. That's just my story, my choice. Doesn't make me any less, or more, of a 'true' supported than anyone else. So, let's not keep having this sodding argument - you'll only wake up You Know Who.

No I'm not having a pop at you because you have admitted what you have done and who you have followed.,my beef is with the liars, the Gillscum season ticket holders who will not admit their betrayal, and compound it by saying the havent missed a Stones game in 40 years even though I know better. There are many more of them than you could possibly think. They would get more respect from me if they would admit they changed there allegiance but saw the errors of their way. And whether you like it or not we have 100's of supporters🤣 who just couldnt be bothered to support the club when it was desperately needed, they all have their excuses, some of them are even valid but there are still 100's who just couldnt be bothered but now claim to have an undying love for the club they abandoned. PS. I know this will/may upset some supporters but ,I just dont care, I know who are true supporters of this club and that's all that matters to ME.

I’d be less bitter about what happened decades ago and more worried by last week. Just 600 fans watched the Hemel livestream. A handy £4500, but probably way below budget. Even allowing for families sharing their login and technophobes, it’s worrying. Particularly if fans don’t get back in the ground any time soon. Where did everyone go?

I didn't watch the Hemel stream (as a season ticket holder) because I prefer live football, especially non-league. So I missed a cracker sitting in front of my computer screen in my study; on the other hand, I saw a cracker sitting in the fresh air, as Chatham beat Croydon 8 - 3 (my highest aggregate score ever) in the SCEFL, with 300+ others. No doubt others are like minded, as mentioned previously on here.
