Not bad from a purely personal point of view. I was worried there'd be lots of home midweeks, as I can rarely make them. But, although I'll miss the first game, the next one isn't until February. And we get the last game at home yet again! Wouldn't half be nice to get a home game on boxing day for a change. Like you I'm missing the first home game as I'm away for a week at the start of October.

Pretty formidable opening set of fixtures and will show us immediately what we will need to do to compete. None of us yet know what the other squads are capable of but if we are top 10 after the first 8 games or so then it could be a good season, bottom 10 and we might end up hoping that Covid wipes the season out again. It is good to see that many of our bigger games are on Saturdays which will be very beneficial financially if things get back to some vestige of normality. Agree tough start, but sometimes good to play these teams early as they are not up to full speed sometimes

Agree tough start, but sometimes good to play these teams early as they are not up to full speed sometimes May all be superfluous as BOJO has just announced that gatherings of more than 6 people to be banned from next week that means no crowds, no income and probably no start to the season as this league and its clubs cannot survive playing behind closed doors.

Sword is over-egging the pud a bit, as he has ignored the exemption for "organised team sports conducted in a safe way". But, whilst he might not be being strictly accurate, I fear his reaction isn't too far off what actually IS going to happen.
My reading of this is Johnson giving police the powers they need to stamp out illegal raves and silly parties - and this legislation is just a quick way of doing this. But quick and dirty, unthought-through legislation has a habit of causing all sorts of unintended consequences, so it wouldn't surprise me if this does end up somewhere near Sword's prediction.
The plain fact is that this isn't a 'second wave', it's a reawakening of the first 'wave', brought about by relaxing the restrictions too soon and all at once. If our only concern was public health, nothing would have been changed until we had had zero infections for several weeks, and the NHS was ready for an increase in patients (whilst still being able to run a normal service), check and trace was up and running properly, and an effective system of testing was in place. And, even then, we would relax the restrictions a little at a time, pausing at each stage to check its impact, before going on the the next stage.
Of course, that was never going to work, because the government is fixated on getting the economy working again - at any cost.
Having heard my kids' experiences at going back to school (no effective social distancing at all, just 'bubbles', so that when infection does occur, it can (hopefully) be contained without affecting the whole school), heard similar tales about people returning to work, travel on public transport, etc - and from my own experience of the complete (mask assisted) collapse of social distancing in shops, etc - my opinion is that we'll be right back in lockdown, in one form or another, before a month is up. I have gone from fearing catching this virus and doing everything I can to avoid it, to now expecting to get it sooner or later, and just hoping I survive it without too much long-term damage.
I'm afraid I also don't expect the new season to last until Christmas - if it manages to start at all.

BBC News - Coronavirus in the UK: How many confirmed cases are there in your area? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274 If you check the map and postcode link on this map, then you can see that by avoiding Norfolk and the 'north' (anywhere above a line joining the Severn estuary and The Wash), most if not all clubs in the NLS are outside current areas of concern. On a purely numbers basis, the infection rate in Tonbridge and Malling is currently less than one in 10,000, so you could attend ten home games and potentially not have anyone in the ground who has it. Probably shouldn't note this though as it will only fuel one of BBJs conspiracy theories. Anyway, at the moment the NLN certainly looks dodgy, with issues for all tiers above that you'd think. Particularly annoying when all that is required is a bit of common sense. However, that is never a given in this country, while once the students go back to college and university, halls of residence are likely to become plague pits if my student days were anything to go by!

I dont know what's happening young Harry but I do know I am fed up to the back teeth with it all and just want to get back to normality.
