Jesus, I can't believe the negativity after one friendly with the team loaded with trialists against opposition who had already played 5 games and were obviously much sharper and more match fit. How about getting behind the lads instead of writing them off already.

Can't comment on the game itself as not there. However, think pre season friendlies are for coaches and management to assess progress, so spectators should not expect too much in the way of a spectacle. As for the coming season, hard to know what expect, other than more uncertainty. Those clubs that are heavily bank rolled will fancy their chances and if they do get promoted should have the money to survive in the NLP the following year. Clubs that are counting the pennies will be equally concerned about promotion and relegation because of financial implications for the season after that. Mid table, with a seriously good cup run, plus unearthing a valuable transfer target is probably what the owners want at the moment. It would have to he a seriously good cup run seeing as the FA have halved all the prize money. Interesting comments from the Charlton manager saying that they cannot compete in the wages department with Billricay town. Konchesky is,apparently, on £1800 per week and Charlton are not allowed to pay any player more than £1300.Now that us just STOOPID.

Just had the pleasure of sharing the breakfast table with a Worksop Town fan who is working in the town. The Worksop players are being paid travelling expenses only until January when the club hopes to resume normal players wages. This decision was accepted by 100% of the playing staff and no player has vacated the club . Maybe not all players are greedy after all.

National South titans Oxford City are playing a similar waiting game on signings:
David Oldfield says he wants to be brave when it comes to waiting for the right players to strengthen Oxford City. The new boss saw his side perform well in a 3-0 friendly defeat at Oxford United on Sunday. They are not in action again until September 5, which is still a month before the club’s competitive fixtures start. While City were quick to retain a core of last season’s squad and add a couple of new faces earlier in the summer, there are still areas which need bolstering. Oldfield admits it would be tempting to agree deals now to fill those slots, but he is aiming to use the National League’s later start than the rest of English football to his advantage. He said: “I’m conscious on the one hand that we need to sign some players, but I’m equally conscious – if not more so – that there will be players who will struggle, perhaps at higher levels, that may surface a bit later. “I’m trying hard not to fill spaces. We want to make sure we remain cool over this pre-season period and don’t panic and we keep some opportunity for us later in pre-season. We’re always on the look-out for the good ones, but we’ll also keep our powder dry if we’re brave enough.” Although they have time on their side in one respect, it does not mean the next couple of weeks are taken lightly. Given the October start, once the campaign does begin it will be fast and furious. An increase in midweek games will take away from time spent on the training ground. Oldfield said: “There is no time to waste, because there will be games thick and fast. But I’m sure if you ask the boys they will be happy to play. We need to get a squad that’s robust enough to give us a chance to go the whole way through.” He added: “I don’t want to have a big squad. I want to use the lower ages at the club. I want to show and not just say there’s a pathway at Oxford City. I want us to be a really strong community club like they already are and build on the good work that’s already happened.”

A bit unusual to get sent off in a friendly in your first run out for the club.
Still we wanted a bone crusher in midfield and with luck that's what we have in Kreshnic Krasniqi.
Does anybody know whether the red card will mean a suspension ?

Just watched the highlights, well taken goals by Herne Bay despite the obvious offside for the first one - you have to give them some credit. Sending off was of course correct, difficult to argue with that. Their number 2 looked like he wanted to put Amaluzor out for the season with that tackle - arsehole.
At least we're back playing.

The 1st goal wasn't offside. I was sitting level and to me looked like George was playing him on. If not then level enough to give element of doubt to forward, which is how it should be!

Fair enough mate, you were there and had a better view so I bow to your judgement! I thought it was at least 3 yards offside and the lino was at least 15 yards behind play. If we had had VAR the decision would have gone to Liverpool.

Also both Terry and Oliver have said money will be kept back to sign players once the season has started. I don't get this rush by clubs to blow their budget at this stage. There is going to be so much talent filtering down the league's when the transfer window for the football league closes. This season will be like no other. Until we get crowds back - money will be extremely tight. We might get there if we find a treatment for Covid 19 but I doubt it. We are encouraged to look past them.

If so though, why not say so, or have the owners caught the government indecision virus which seems to be circulating?

Dunno what the club's links to local media are like - but Hak could pretty much use the above word for word. Strikingly similar.

Was there an interview with Hak after the Herne Bay game?

Anyone know or heard who the Trialits were. I think the Number 9 was Tomi Adeloye formally of Ebbsfleet and Dagenham & Redbridge.
He would certainly fit the profile of player the club is looking for. He's local and has links to our new assistant manager.
