So Fleet continue to spend, but Dover aren't spending?
Anyone care to predict a dire season for Dover, possibly even relegtion?*
(*Be warned - no matter how strong the signs, it never happens!)

Can see nothing but a hard struggle this season About 8 of last season's squad who didn't really set the league alight, plus 2 new signings. Whereas Ebsfleet have signed a dozen or so new players and even Dartford have made half a dozen to strengthen an already play off finalist team. Who is bankrolling Dartford??. All this while our manager is furloughed...

It must be nearly a month ago that we secured 2 signings and since then diddly squat.

Beginning to feel that the club peaked early when it came to signings and then run out of steam (or money)

It was a good thing that we retained the nucleus of last season's squad. But the squad still needed another 4/5 signings to be seriously competitive. Just getting a feeling now that maybe it's not going to happen ? With training getting underway in less than 2 weeks we have barely 11 players. That needs to change soon and hopefully it will.

We probably could of done with him on our left flank actually, why would you not resign him? he’s local after all! Casey and ash are really banking on those under 23 boys to save some cash as usual.

There's a few on the forum who believe that promoting from the under 23's will be the saving grace of the club.
I think that's over egging it, but it will be nice to see some of the local talent in the squad and get a chance.
But imo we need around another 4 proven and experienced players at this level, if we are going to build a team that can compete properly.

As I have said before this season is all about survival, then push on next season if things return to normal. The owners may have oneye on the fact that the season may start, but not finish so it's pointless flushing money that we may not have down the toilet at this moment in time.

The 3 'mays' in your post helps cover all bases, but suggests a certain lack of conviction in any particular eventuality.

Let's talk accountancy, always an exciting thing to do .... When the 2018 / 19 accounts were released ( covering the last year in NL, the Clown Year etc. ), much was made of the fact that despite it all, the MUFC Group of companies still produced a profit on an EBITDA basis. Not sure if that was a wise headline to chose, because D and A ( depreciation and amortisation of assets, the ground , the 3 G pitch etc. ) are an important cost which in reality you ought to consider in assessing performance. Actually ' D and A ' were £ 159,000 in that year and taking that into account, MUFC Group made a pre tax loss of around £ 150,000 for the year. Heaven knows what happened in the ' covid ' year ( 2019 / 20 ). Not surprising that the Directors are taking an uber cautious approach this year....

I have no idea what's going to happen, I only know that if I was in the owners shoes I would not be spending all my money just yet, if things return to normal after xmas it would be nice to have a portion of the budget still available at that time.

Blimey, I thought for a minute there I had clicked on one of my investment bulletin boards by mistake. I think actually EBITDA is pretty good measure here for the moment. Unless and until we are ready to seriously make a push for the EFL then the major Capex is done. 'D' & 'A' are therefore effectively about whether or not the club can generate funds to payback Terry & Oliver (don't hold your breath gentlemen!) I do though agree with your conclusion. It seems likely that owners at other clubs are continuing (increasing) to pump money into this seasons campaign, which I think is crazy. Unless we know for sure that the 2021/22 season will be totally free of covid restrictions I think chasing promotion would be madness, and borrowing lots of money from the owners to do so doubly so.

Is this the Maidstone forum or is this arsenal fan TV?? Wah wah wah they signed someone we haven't, we should be spending money we don't have and put the club into jeopardy.
Comes to something when sword is making the more sensible post in a thread (sorry swordy but it's true).
Ebbsfleet who have for two consecutive years shown huge loses continue to sign players that we cannot afford, we have a larger fanbase and they can still pay more than we offer, shows that they really don't give two hoots about the longevity if the club.
I think the confirmation that our season will start early oct will be announced soon so i woukd kind if guess that pre season would start September with a few behind closed doors friendlies against other nls or nl teams.
There is still time for us to bring in players, I'm guessing that we have been close to signing a couple but then they were offered better wages elsewhere, it happens.
I'd rather that we survive out of this covid mess with a team still to support and no crippling debts, if that means mid table mediocrity then so be it, we need to survive especially with the reduced number of fans which will hurt us more than most in this league.
