See the news this morning is of a strong possibility of nationwide restrictions for a 'period of weeks'. If so, what is the betting that new restrictions will begin on October 3rd and include football crowds? The term 'weeks' is becoming another political cop out, along with 'clearly' (though this seems less used now) and 'working night and day' (suggesting they are doing all they can, when, clearly, they are not). Introduces politics into a thread and exits, stage left, pursued by a bear...

No substance to it whatsoever, just the usual stoking up of anger and confusion in the general population.

BBC News - Covid: Can a 'circuit break' halt the second wave? www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54206582 Already happening, unfortunately and in many ways better now than in a month's time when things are likely to be out of control again. Other reports show that, despite the current testing debacle, we do indeed test more people than anywhere else in Europe, though Denmark, Lithuania, Cyprus and Malta do more per capita. However, more than just sheer numbers, methinks, and more about what you do with the information - or indeed anything where size is concerned... Seems there are rumblings in government that Bojo is no longer the force of personality he was (Covid, new child, weight of responsibility does that to people), with growing concern among Tories about the way the country staggers from one crisis to another. Can only hope Stonestv make pay per view more widely available than the current PayPal option, as that could be the only option come 3rd/6th October. Trouble is, if an average home game brings in around £25k, we'd need at least 5000 online viewing to match that and this wouldn't be boosted by hospitality sales either, so the sums still won't add up, I guess.

A quick search shows the story is in the Telegraph so almost certainly govt policy. The reality is that we opened pubs with great fanfare and opened schools and sent people back to work (with threats when they didn't want to go). You can rattle on with phrases like covid-safe but they won't be true. If increased infections become increased hospitalizations and deaths (usually a 3 or 4 week lag, I've read somewhere) then there is little option. Or we can just bury heads, call it scaremongering, left wing troublemaking and deny things until the problem becomes too acute to ignore. Has anyone noticed how the public, the media, foreigners etc etc are the problem. Never the people making the decisions.

Difficult to tell sometimes if daveu is just on a wind-up. So obviously it was not just a media 'made-up' story, so is dave just underlying that point by claiming the absurd opposite ? As I said difficult to tell. At least nws logic is easy reading without the need for a interpretor.

Is he turning into a populist or something ? I have been openly hateful of this lying administration from the start and some don't like the partisan way I present it. However, I think people are getting truly fed up with what is going on now. It is beyond funny. I see real trouble ahead if this allowed to persist. This country needs leadership at this time but when we needed another Churchill we got a man in a fridge. I don't even want to admonish those that voted for this. I just want them to be honest, say the made a mistake and start pushing for something different

Sorry if I’ve missed the conversation at some point, however have we signed Raven Constable?? He appears on all the team sheets rather than being shown as “Trialist”
