You're right it would be.
Let me know when it happens in case we miss it
Capitalism is inherently unstable and will eventually end in violent collapse to be superseded by a new socialist order. Discuss. Over to you Mr Pedant... Nice try. But never was any good at being told what to do though.

Don't know much about a new World Order but I was chatting to a non Stones National League Club Director today (as you do)
His club is preparing, probably as most clubs are, for a potential start date during September
Which is the very earliest of the forecasts found in this forum
But with Hak about to be formally re-appointed I guess it won't be too long before we hear about a few signings
Soonest, up to 4 possibles from last season's squad not already on contract
Maybe George, Chesmain, Lewington and Temelci ?

I think George is the unlikeliest one of those four names given his age - but it would be great if he could give us 1 more season.

Given his age and wage demands maybe. Depends a lot on the relationship he developed with Hak and the owners last year. I sense it was very good. As long as the wages issue can be overcome (if) it may be down to George and his ambitions

I would add Gavin Hoyet to the top of that list of possible returnees. For me player of the season. Had the most assists, scored 2 goals and mr consistency. Always put in a 7/10 performance and some of the crosses he put into our box were quality. The equaliser against H&W at home comes to mind. He even captained the team in Georges absence towards the end of the season.

What worries me is that we seem to be re-signing nine players who didn't perform too well together last season. I hope Hak has a magic wand that can meld those players into a team this time.

I would like to see Justin sign. He is a quality player when he performs and is always likely to score. We need at least 2 good wingers in the squad - can Ibby II play on the wing?
I am not convinced by George. Great guy and fans favourite but on the pitch he does not look like a player who played at the highest level. Too many bad decisions. He either boots the ball out of the ground or is caught in possession. He was fully or in part to blame for all 3 goals conceded at Blackpool and many others. His tactic seemed to be to frighten opposition forwards and it worked sometimes but when we played Dartford Elliot Romain showed his weakness. Whatever his faults Romain was never intimidated by a big centre half. I just feel George was not professional enough given his pedigree and by that I mean he enjoyed the game too much rather than using his talent to be a play maker by finding a player up the pitch.
If we sign Simpson then I doubt we would sign Hoyet.
The squad under performed last season but it would be good to start with a nucleus of players who know each other under a manager who knows their strengths and weaknesses. Most fans would like to keep at least 8 of the squad so they cant be far off.
It seems that for the past 3 seasons we have lost a key player in January and have not replaced them. If we are to make a bid for promotion WE need to be the team strengthening for the 2nd half.

It's nice to have a player who lives and breathes the club, goes straight over to the fans at the end, etc, but it's what he does on the pitch that counts. And if you forget all the 'fans favourite' stuff, George is an old player coming to the end of his career and just coasting at a lower level for a while before retirement - and enjoying the fans' adulation. And the 'lose a player in Jan and not replace him' bit is spot on. More or less the key to our last few seasons.
