Tonbridge ? Just another club panicking and doing business at the wrong time. "So we have to copy these other clubs do we" ? "Just because they are being reckless does that mean we have to follow suit" ? "All this crying because other clubs are signing players is quite frankly embarrassing". "I would not panic. We will have our pick of the best players in this league as most clubs will be brassic". "The club is shut down and doesn't need to think about signing players until we all know the start date of next season". "Good luck to the clubs signing players for a season that might not even start this year". "No one knows when the season will start, what sort of season it will be, what sort of gates we'll get, what impact Covid will have on income, what sort of opportunities there'll be for full-time players at non-league level". "The players themselves will be desperately trying to sort their own lives out".
After all, Rob, taking our time to assemble a squad REALLY worked well for us this time last year, didn't it! We now know it was unfortunately because of Mrs JS2 being seriously ill, but that also means ideally we wouldn't have let it happen - so why should we now? Its time for the Gallagher to start to show some signs of life. Hate to say it, but I think Tonbridge are doing the right thing. Let's be honest bbj, what we don't know is if anything is happening or not. Nothing has been officially announced but that doesn't mean that nothing is happening, Oliver has said that they are talking to players so things are going on behind the scenes. Usually when things happen at ground then there are leaks, aka the car park or allington Tesco's but again where the talks are behind closed doors these usual leaks are not getting their information to ruin the surprise for us all.

Good point, jdh, well made. Where is the car park when you need him. or her. As fans its nice to be fed the odd titibit just to keep us excited, and to fuel a hundred speculative and arguing the toss posts of different opinions about everything from who should be Manager (only one candidate, surely?) to which Stones legends we want back, to whether Sword should be the new voice of Stones Live or not - just to relieve the boredom of the New World Order prison we all now live in. Come on Oliver, throw us a scrap of some news that summat is appening!

I am not worried about signing players yet. I am more worried that we have not confirmed who our manager will be yet. Is Hak going to be manager if we go part time? That should be an easy question to ask him. If we go part time (which I think we should) then let’s get that sorted ASAP so the manager can think about who he wants to stay or sign when we know when the season starts. Knowing us we will prob leave it to the last minute.

If Hak is furloughed, which apparently is the reported position from a normally reliable source, then it would be unlawful for him to be tapping up anybody, not even from our squad last year. But is he really furloughed or out of contract ? Somebody out there knows.

If he is furloughed then the club will only bring people out of furlough from 1 July at the earliest.

Where is the car park when you need him. or her. There'll be no behind the hand rumours from the car park until Boris reduces the two metre rule.

One rumour said Hak was furloughed, another that he was out of contract. Whatever, it is good to know that we will very soon have a manager in place to do the necessary player recruitment /retention and the rest. Smart money is still on a September start but that still feels like the earliest. Tbf I never felt quite right with August matches so no bother.

Terry confirms a lower player budget why staying ''full time''
Hopefully this works out, but I honestly think if we are to have a lower budget we would attract better players going part time. I've thought all along that unless you have a big budget that going full time just doesn't work out well. You end up having to pay more for full time players who most of the time are no better than part time ones.
You just need to look at this season, being full time gave us no advantage over any team....heck there were many part time teams who looked fitter & way better than us.

But Raymondo, the guys who are actually charged with actually speaking to players, do not find you improve the quality by offering 2 evening coaching sessions a week compared to 3 morning coaching sessions. To be honest that's seems fair enough to me. Nothing to be saved on the budget either and you get players that want football to be their main source on income.
Seems a pity that as soon as the club announce their plans for next season, you get "they are doing all wrong" Anyhow from me its "A BIG THANKS TO TERRY AND OLIVER, PLENTY OF US ARE 100% BEHIND YOU"

We aren't suddenly gonna attract better full time players why paying less. Surely it would be better to make the most of our budget by signing the best part time players available, instead of the full time players that most teams don't want. Just look at Wealdstone they had a brilliant season why being part time, heck 5 out of the 6 playoff teams were part time. Unless you are Havant who can afford to splash out big wages, being full time gives us no advantage.

I hope I am wrong but I think staying full time is a mistake. We have achieved nothing being full time. We were moving forward as a part time club. Once we changed the only way we have gone is backwards.

So Terry's* comment that day time training allows greater opportunities for income generation from the pitch, which goes some way to funding the 'lower budget', and thus continued existence is no advantage?
*My apologies. On rereading the Official Site I found the comment was from Bill and not Terry.
"Although it is something of a gamble, sticking with three mornings is a statement of intent and it also makes sense from a business and community perspective as we’re able to continue to host other community teams in our evening schedule."
