This is actually a bit of a problem on a personal level. If/when we do restart, WTF do I do? I am desperate to get back to JWW, but I'm also rather keen not to get the bloody virus.

Only way we get to watch football this side of Xmas is if we all wear masks at games. Masks are a waste of time - the virus will get through (it's so tiny it can only be 'seen' on an electron microscope). If anything, they are dangerous, as they give people a false sense of security and so they stop taking social distancing seriously (and social distancing is the only way we'll beat this virus).
I agree with you JDL.
I tried sourcing various types of masks (not from medical suppliers as I believe their supply should be reserved for health care workers and patients) - the ads and sales blurbs all seem to include in the (very) small print that "this product is not guaranteed against viruses" or "not for medical use" or similar.
Material masks are fine for keeping out smoke and pollutants but they would absorb a certain amount of exhaled breath - i.e. moisture which would not help evading Covid.
So, if professionally made products are of no use, what use would home-made material-masks be?

The only reason for wearing masks is to reduce the risk of infecting someone else, because they reduce the distance that particles from coughs and sneezes travel. And in fact any face covering, e.g. scarves or bandanas, will work just as well.
The chance of spreading the virus outdoors is extremely low anyway because any particles will be dispersed by the wind before anyone has a chance to inhale them, and any particles on surfaces are killed in a few minutes by natural UV light.

There are quite a few Maidstone fans I can think of, that it would be better if they covered their faces.

As DaveU says the main purpose of wearing masks is to prevent someone who is infected (and within the potential 10 day incubation period and not demonstrating any symptoms) spreading to others. Masks should be mandatory for closed areas such as public transport and shops. As I have said before it is a matter of social responsibility.
@jdl, the standard for masks is called N95 where the 95 means that they stop 95% of 0.4 micron particles. At the risk of repeating myself a mask is like wearing seat belts in a car. It may not guarantee that you won't be killed in an accident but it gives you a significantly greater chance of survival.
And based on empirical, observed evidence, all of the Asian countries where we wear masks most of the time in public have far lower viral transmission and R numbers.

And based on empirical, observed evidence, all of the Asian countries where we wear masks most of the time in public have far lower viral transmission and R numbers. There is no proven causal relationship though - it could just be that countries with systems in place to control epidemics and where people are more aware of the situation, are also more likely to have a culture of mask wearing. Judging from the pictures we see on TV, etc, a lot of people in those places seem to wear masks all the time, anyway. There is also the social factor to take into account. In countries where wearing masks is regarded as normal, more people wearing them doesn't alter the way they behave. But in the UK, where we don't normally wear masks, people will tend to regard them as giving them some sort of general protection from the virus, and they'll stop bothering so much about social distancing, hand washing, etc. Not to mention that the way most people wear masks over here involves contantly reusing the same mask, and constantly putting it on and taking it off - so they touch the (possibly infected) mask and then touch their faces - thus substantially increasing their chances of getting the infection. The evidence seems to show that the key factors in controlling the virus have been hand-washing and social distancing (including avoiding situations where you might pick the virus up). We may not be a shining example of controlling Covid-19, but we have managed to bring the rate of infection right down - generally without wearing masks. I'm not saying they don't have their use, I certainly won't be getting on a train or bus without one! But as a general method of controlling the spread of the virus, the facts suggest that they make very little difference, and, in the UK (given the general level of unawareness and studity displayed by many), they could actually have the opposite effect.

I was told the academy went back training Indeed, they've been there several times when I've cycled past on my daily ride.

Went past The Gallagher on my bike ride this morning and there was some kind of training session on. Couldn't make out who it was but it was good to see some activity down there.

Cycling past The Gallagher this morning, the pitch was being combed. Yes, noticed that around the time some MOMIL zoomed past me. Big question is: Spray tan or sun tan? 🤔

If it was me you saw, the tan is the result of being furloughed and doing lots of outdoor jobs rather than being in an office all day.
