Philosophical question: Was watching it get built weirder than than watching people watch it get built?

I don't think there were many of those of us who live in Maidstone who didn't find an excuse to go down there on a regular basis to keep up to date with the progress. Some older, retired supporters went down there every day, Ernie Munn for example.

I preferred watching the ground going up to watching football at Sittingbourne.

I remember seeing middle aged men standing outside watching it being built. How often in life do you get the chance to see your impossible dreams come to realty? For all that's happened since, that feeling was still special.

Don't knock Sittingbourne remember the alternative Ashford The ground was a lot better than Sittingbourne, it just seemed to take an eon to get there. Matter of opinion. The main stand was impressive but lacked elevation. I actually preferred the main stand at Bourne Park, simply because it had better elevation and thus a better view of the pitch. The two covered terraces behind the goals were only a couple of steps so not much of an improvement on Bourne Park and the third side was completely undeveloped. The corporate facilities were undoubtedly better but we didn't really benefit from them. Overall, it looked a better stadium but the experience of watching football was actually better at Bourne Park, as was the atmosphere.

if the one metre rule comes in then we might be back in business for getting crowds back in the ground, possibly 1000 to 1500, that might be a good starting point to get some money flowing back into the club.

I'd imagine that by the time the football season starts (remember that mid-August is still 2 long months away) there will be a rule along those lines, if it's not died out by then. (COVID, not non-league football...)

Only way we get to watch football this side of Xmas is if we all wear masks at games. Clown masks? Sennockian, you are so glass half empty my friend, even when we do open you'd better stay at home as you really wont enjoy taking the risk of mingling with the great unwashed you'll be worrying too much about getting the virus over whether or not we win the game, so spare yourself the agony. At least until August 2021.

Masks are a waste of time - the virus will get through (it's so tiny it can only be 'seen' on an electron microscope). If anything, they are dangerous, as they give people a false sense of security and so they stop taking social distancing seriously (and social distancing is the only way we'll beat this virus).
