They are good players indeed..if they want to stay? No guarantee.
I dont see any need to bring back last year's squad. Let's look around and pick up some new talent.. we ended last season with a whimper.

True enough steve, but don't unload the best of our talent. What does that tell you about the future of the club ? If I wanted to watch park football thats what I would do, along with a few other locals. Seems like some of our supporters want to see the club drop down another League.

We need to keep Corne, Khan and Akanbi, 3 quality players. To suggest the club may have to let them go so we can recruit cheaper versions is not good sword. Harry as sad as it may sound I expect the majority of non-league clubs will all be looking for the cheaper options next season, an that is just to survive. It will be sometime before things return to normality I,m afraid.

Everyones entitled to their own opinions and sharing them with others is why we have this forum. Akanbi, Corne and Khan are the right players, the best players and are the future of the club imo Is this the same Khan that everybody wanted to sell for ridiculous amounts of money?

With our loyal(ish) support we should be safe from relegation for a while as we will still be better funded than most clubs . Having said that we both know that money doesn't necessarily equate to points on the board.

We agree Nick but you seem to think last year's squad was particularly good. I don't think there was anything special about it at all. Very average for NLS. My point is the same as yours, I want us to go up a division not down and I don't think last year's squad would have got us promoted.

What are you going on about JDH ? Are you saying Corne, Khan and Akanbi are not right for the Stones ? Sword seems to think thay are unaffordable without knowing their wages or clubs affordability thresh-hold. In terms of the best players if you look at Sheffield united for example with all due respect Everton, spurs, man utd, arsenal and wolves should all be well clear of the blades based on the players they have. What the blades have though so the right players for their formation and team, they will come up against teams with better players but be able to beat them due to them having the right players for the right situation with the right mentality. Sword was saying we would get lesser versions of corne khan and akanbi, I'm not saying we should get rid of any of those three but if they were to leave and we brought in cheaper replacements doesn't necessarily mean that they will be worse, the team set up might suit them better. If you look at last season outside of McClure we struggled to score goals, yet akanbi, olutade and embury are all back next season, there has already been mention by two posters of strikers we should go for if we are playing two up top then having four(or more) strikers maybe something we can't afford hence us needing to make sure we have the right players.

Fair point steve, but I have never said last year's squad was that good. Within the squad though we did have a few decent players and these are 3 of the best Maybe there are another 3/4 well worth keeping too, if we can. Not easy to argue the merits of individual players when collectively they under-performed. That begs another question, but lets not go there.

Keeping Khan, Corne and Akanbi is good business. If we could keep Cheismain that would be good also. Would like to keep hold of Hoyt’s, Justin and George but can’t see that happening. Wages would be too high for them and next season will be on a reduced budget so we may be looking at players either in this division or Ryman leagues.

I think with so many players from EFL and non league trying to get deals many players might need a reality check re wages. Supply v demand. Most clubs' rich owners will have seen their businesses suffer.
Thoughts and prayers for football agents at this difficult time.

It hard to know how things will pan out, but presumably from top down, all clubs will face financial pressures. That being so, many will be off loading players. For some that may include their development squads, so there could be a glut of decent young players looking for work. Will they cascade down the pyramid and if so, what effect does that have on the player market in Leagues 1,2 and the nationals? Guess a few players from our level may find clubs interested in them, if they are good enough, because they will be cheap in terms of wages and fees. Discarded players might find themselves unwanted, unless they are willing to take massive pay cuts. Who knows? Maybe those out of contract will be happy to play for someone local for a while, hoping that things pick up again in a year or two. If so, who do we know who is any good and lives within half an hour of Maidstone?

Tbh I do not understand why a couple of earlier posts seem so relaxed about losing the likes of Corne, Khan and Akanbi. Not right for the Stones ? Along with Chesmain, they make up the very best our young crop of talented players To think of them not being retained because next season is just about recruiting 'as cheap as chips' Well, if that's a vision of the future, then I won't be bothering with a season ticket.

He is one of the few players last season who was worth paying to watch. I am not anti Khan in anyway . He is a good player but not worth the silly money being touted around last season. My point was or is the poster said he is one of 3 players we should be building the team around, and I agree with that, but everyone wanted to cash in on him last season n,ow you want to build a team around him. I didnt think we would get silly money for him and we certainly wont now it all depends on whether WE can afford him.
