'Lews' is no longer a Stones player. We have a squad of 5 atm. Reminds me of 1992 when we had only Jason Lillis and a couple of others readyvto face Scunthorpe before the plug was pulled. Obviously this time we are just waiting for the plug to be put back in. A very disturbing comparison!

5 players already in the starting blocks but 2 of them hardly got a look in last season, so perhaps just 3 nailed on starters. Depends on who will accept the pay cuts but we will probably see another 3/4 returners. Lews for me would be one of them unless the Worgs reappears.

A couple of returning Stones legends would help lift the mood and continue the healing process following the Wheeler experiment disaster. It is a wound that has left a big scar on the club.
Worgs would be great..

Worgs would be great.. Worgan in as some kinda Goalkeeper Coach with a local keeper pushing for the No 1 role would be my preference. Someone I have followed is Tom Hadler from Whitstable played for Eastbourne Borough this past Season after being released from Gillingham last summer. Highly rated by them and only left because he wanted 1st team football. Was in goal when we beat them on penalties in the Kent Senior Cup.

Tbf swampy I reckon most supporters would agree. Really need a couple of old legends/ favourites back in the mix. We need to go forward but at the same time rediscover our roots.

Frannie, Bodders, flish? Guys who are now getting on or injuries have reduced them, to be half the player they were and returning could ruin their cult hero statuses. Or maybe you were referring to Lye, Coyle, Watt, Welford, as they are all still regularly playing. Please don't band about the names of Piggott, Turgott, de havilland they all want football at a higher level than what we currently are at.

There are plenty of players that are Kent based playing in and around our level. Mitchell Dickinson & Conner Essam Hemel Hempstead. Michael West Eastbourne Borough. Dean Rance Aldershot. It will all depend on circumstances as to who is in charge. Although I've got nothing against Hakan I belive to get a local team that truly knows what it means to play for Maidstone then you need a Kent based Manager. Haken talks a good game but ultimately still brings in Essex based players.

Nothing wrong with recruiting talent from Essex. If Hak finds the best players to be the other side of the Thames, no problem imo.

Dead right we want to see Kent based players but only if they are at least as good as those further afield. We want the best team Hak csn put together and that must mean recruiting across the water too.

We just need the best players, playing the best football, don't care where they come from, even Sheppey if the guy's got talent.

Richard Sinden and Nathan Paul?
(Much as I loved those two, that's not a serious suggestion...).

But the three guys you mention didn't play for us, so many of our fans are obsessed with getting back players who were good for us 3-7 years ago which makes no sense, those players have aged, retired or injuries have curtailed their careers.

Some on this forum are sounding like when we's.
I don't live in the past.
