I think the only hint of uncertainty over Hak is whether he'll agree a contract. From what Oliver said, the club has already decided he's the man for the job. As all the other stuff, as I said before, I'm sure the club is talking to players and getting ready for when contracts can be offered, but neither the club, not the players know when the season will start or how many games there will be so impossible to actually negotiate anything in good faith at the moment. Also the he club has no idea how many people will be allowed to attend games (I've heard various figures bandied about from 25% to 50% of capacity), so has no real idea what the budget is likely to be. It's gonna be a weird summer with no news, or even speculation, about player signings. We're just gonna have to be patient. The club has never announced signings until contracts were signed so even if we have players ready to sign we're not gonna know about them. People need to stop panicking just because a few clubs with more money than sense have started chucking it around already. That's my interpretation too. The club want to keep him, but don't know if he'll want to take the job. And obviously that decision depends on too many variables that simple aren't known at the moment, and probably won't be for months. Basically, it depends on whether or not he gets a better offer (in or out of football). As for not hearing much about player recruitment all summer - how will that be any different from the last two seasons?!

Yes, an othewise sensible post from daveu. The idea that this forum will not speculate on potential player signings is 'for the birds'.

The club obviously want to give Hak a chance which is fair enough but we must not forget he was brought in as number two to John Still so is he really the best man for the job? If he gets the gig then I really hope it works out for him and us and we are not having to change managers again come Oct/Nov time.

I think you will find he was brought in as Manager Designate by John Still and would have taken over for next season anyway

I'm not saying he is or he isn't, but as no manager is actually in place all options should be on the table.

True enough davec, but it was always going to be totally down to the owners
Thing is I do like Hak, but his track record as a manager is not exactly mind-blowing.
Worst still, when bbj gets back on the forum and asks how does Hak's record compare with JS1
You don't end up getting the right answer !

I guess as long as nobody panics, we will achieve everything we deserve (oldboy take notice) Boris would define our situation as being 'Wholly Successful', 'A Triumph' and 'World Beating'

Hak was brought in in a very different time to do a job that effectively no longer exists, and which may turn out to be quite different when things restart. So whether he's the right person for the job is anyone's guess!
We're all assuming that eventually the virus will go away and things will return to 'normal' - exactly the same as they were before. That may be right, but I suspect it won't be. The chances are that football, especially at our level, is going to be quite different when it restarts in 2021.
Will the 'big' non-league clubs, with their money men, still be around? If they are, will they be even more of a threat because everyone else has been knocked back? Will the NL be dominated even more by ex-League clubs, with their better gates and established EFL infrastructure, or are they in fact more vulnerable than the non-league clubs? Will the financial shock mean that the rest of non-leagure returns to the old semi-pro atmosphere of decades ago? How many clubs will survive - and will this mean restructuring of leagues, perhaps even the entire pyramid?
No bugger knows. But the chances are pretty good, that the longer this goes on for, the bigger the effect. We could come out of this as a big fish in a smaller pond like we were in the 80s, or knocked back years and even further from any dreams of playing in the EFL, or even the NL.
But at least we'll still be here in 2021. Be thankful to O&T we can say that.
