Great quiz...……….can we some more of these? There were some squad players in there I had totally forgotten about and some players I didn't realise went back that far!

Here's another one for you, all the clubs down to Nat S / N 2019/20. www.sporcle.com/games/JakePFC/footballclubs?sc=soccer definitely forgiven if you don't know your National North line-up... Oh and having just done a UK cities quiz, I reckon Stones have played clubs from 26 cities - 4 Uniteds, a couple with other suffixes, 2 I think might not have had "City" in their name when we played them but have had at some point in their history... the rest definitely xxx City FC. How many can you remember? (one of them the place is obvious but I had to go back to 1973/4 FA Cup and FA Trophy to find us playing them...)

Great shout... when? Didn't even notice Rochester on wiki list. My mistake.

May have been Rochester united actually but the both play at the same place now. We certainly played Rochester united in a PSF in the last 10 years or so. Can’t remember the year.

Assuming they had to hold city status at the time
In (original) Kent League Division 1 Rochester (FC) 1909-14 Rochester lost city status in 1998
In South Eastern League 1906/07-08/09 Division 1 Norwich (City) Westminster (QPR +1974 friendly) [not Portsmouth in 1908/09 since gained city status in 1926]
In Southern League Premier played Guildford City in 73/74 but Guildford has never held city status [& Cambridge City 73/74 - 75/76. Utd already included in the list]
Was nominally drawn to play Swansea City in FA Cup 92/93 - a game that was never played

I did an nws/pedant, and checked back to the original question to see if Oxford had specified 'City' as part of the club's name or if the club actually came from a city.
Turns out he 'specified' BOTH! And added in clubs that had had 'City' in their name at some time in their history for good measure...
Anyway, Rochester IS a city - it has a cathedral. Bollocks to all this newfangled nonsense about applying for city status and Unitary Authorities.
