Again I ask, if they have been wound up for £500,000 then why cannot they pay it out of the £750 000 parachute payment? Financial mismanagement is exactly what the label says it is

Not quite carnage but quite funny when Carlton fc's home game is delayed when the field is invaded by an alpaca, now that has to be a first🤣🤣🤣

Going by twitter it sounds like Merthyr will be going the route of Guernsey and not playing this season.

Shelley fc have resigned from the Northwest Counties league stating Covid as the sole reason. This takes the total past 20 of clubs who have gone bust or resigned since the March lockdown .

Shelley fc have resigned from the Northwest Counties league stating Covid as the sole reason. This takes the total past 20 of clubs who have gone bust or resigned since the March lockdown . Far less than I expected. I thought some at the levels immediately below us might go as well (or at least drop out for this season) - perhaps even some at our level? But I assume, it's a bit like Covid itself - there's a delay between the initial problem and the clubs finally accepting the inevitable and resigning. If the season fails to start or gets interrupted a lot (and/or the crowd limits are drastically reduced), I can see a lot of clubs doing the maths and realising the only way to survive is to not play this season. That logic even applies to us - with restricted crowds and the loss of income from the various indirect sources, I can't see us breaking even this season. Whereas it would almost certainly cost T&O a lot less to just mothball the club for a few months.

Moth balling is one thing, but is there any precedent for a club doing this to simply rejoin where they were? More likely we'd have to start again several leagues lower. Not the most enticing prospect.

Not the most enticing prospect. Guernsey have gone into hiding for one year and their place at step 4 is guaranteed for next year.

Not the most enticing prospect. What Sword said. I was assuming that 'moth balling' would be allowed - i.e. miss the season, but go back in to the same place next season. I'm surprised whole leagues haven't done this at the lower levels. But then, I suppose the instinct will always be to keep on playing if at all possible. But another lockdown (even if peacemeal) will probably be enough to knock quite a few clubs out - and presumably some leagues will be forced to do the same, as a result. It will be 'interesting' to see what happens over the next few weeks. My personal feeling (at the moment!) is that Johnson is so shit scared of another country-wide lockdown, that he will delay as long as possible, so we should be OK to start on 3/10. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if the season grinds to a halt shortly afterwards. This might not just be a new lockdown, it might simply be too many players, etc with Covid and games being postponed/abandoned. Even if the season does struggle along, it's going to be pretty chaotic.

Just read a long drawn out statement from the administrators of Wigan Athletic and it's no wonder they are up shit creek their wage bill last season was £1 million per MONTH.They have had to sell all their players because the salary cap in league one is £2 million per YEAR. Unbelievable Jeff.
